“Smelly”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

Stayed for three nights in damp foisty room (end room) Complained, didn't have any rooms to move me so was given a pack up breakfast and an air freshened! To be fair the receptionist apologised but it didn't help the smell :0(

And to add insult to injury I found a pair of men's slippers under the bed!! Not good won't go back.

“Just what we needed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

My partner and I stayed at the Baldock Travelodge for three nights over Christmas while visiting family and friends in the area. It was perfectly located for our requirements and just what we needed - somewhere to sleep.
Our room was at the back of the building and very quiet - no traffic noise, clean, warm and with a very comfortable bed.
The room was not serviced on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day but we could collect clean towels, tea and coffee etc from reception.
There is sufficient free parking for all guests.
Wifi is available at a small charge but we did not use it so cannot comment on its efficiency.
As usual, the staff were very friendly and helpful.

“The exit onto the A1 is a liitle tricky, Fangio ......”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 December 2011

As stated in other reviews, this place is in the middle of nowhere and if you are approaching from the south (working Stevenage, for example) you have to drive about 5 mioles past it, negociate a roundabout and retrace your steps as there is no direct access from the northbound carriageway.

The decor is tired, my toilet had some rather 'iffy' stains under the water in the bowl and the furniture is worn threadbare in places. However, the bed was comfortable, the shower was efficient (if a little cantackerous in setting it up - first too hot, then too cold, etc) and the TV had a fair selection of various TV and radio channels.

Staff all had a ready smile and were very friendly.

Bottom line ...... there are always rooms available and usually in the £19 - £29 bracket.

The title? Ah, yes. It helps to have a car that can get from 0 - 60 mph in a relatively short period. The reason? The exit onto the A1 (about a mile before it becomes a motorway is a 'T' junction and, between 7:30 and 8am you have to join two lanes of continuous traffic bowling along at about 70 mph. Not for the faint hearted!

“Excellent value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 November 2011

As our company is expanding, we have had to take on more staff, who regularly stay at the Baldock Travelodge.
We have found it to be excellent value for money, the staff are very helpful and friendly, and directed us to the 3 Horseshoes at Hinxworth for an evening meal, which was superb.
It is not the most modern hotel, or the newest, in fact I would say it is quite old for a Travelodge, but has a good homely feel and we would not consider staying anywhere else in the area now.

Room Tip: Book in advance on the Travelodge website to get the best deals on prices. 3 weeks or more if possib...

“Room Service.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 November 2011

Having read what has been said here, I felt I had nothing more to add, was it not for that fact that having ordered one of their breakfast bags on arrival for room delivery the next morning, they forgot to deliver it till I went down myself to fetch at 11am. and there were were 2 members of staff at the reception where the breakfast pack was sitting. Close call as I had to vacate my room by noon.
I wish I had read the comments made by others before booking.
