Being this was our, my husband and I and our dear friends, first visit to the Highlands,
we of course searched for a special place!
One that would really fulfil our every expectation; great location, luxury, cosy atmosphere, etc.
After quite a search (I was very picky :)...) we found Millness Croft...
The website made for a very good first impression and invited us to contact the owners
Neil & Justine Akeroyd!
We booked our trip to Millness Croft for the beginning of January!
All went very pleasant and Neil helped us in every way possible!!
(information, payment, Tesco delivery, etc)
When we arrived at the Millness Croft we were instantly amazed by the beautiful surroundings and the lovely cottage and were warmly welcomed by Neil.
We stayed at the Grant Cottage and were enchanted by it's cosiness,
the lovely woodburning stove (allready burning an ambient fire for us)...
The cottage is really out of this world!!
They thought of absolutely everything ... and not to forget to mention the cleanliness of the cottage! Outstanding!
Our tesco delivery was already stowed away in the cabinets and frigde!
The "welcome-package" includes the essentials (very convenient); the fresh free range eggs are delicious!!
The location of the cottage is just perfect for sightseeing the Highlands but also for a lovely walk in the surroundings of the cottage... it's surrounded by beautiful nature at your doorstep...
E.g. we went to see Plodda falls... a real magnificent walk (we went by car, because sadly we found out about plodda falls a bit to late ;)...)
A bit further away (but really worth your trip) the Isle of Skye, we went to the Talisker Distillery (Tip!!) and the route along the west coast is gorgeous.
We of course visited Urquhart Castle with the beautiful views of Loch Ness (within 10 minutes drive), Fort Augustus, Eilean Donan Castle, Inverness (Tip: In Inverness we enjoyed a lovely diner at the Filling Station ; An American Diner - style restaurant with very tasty dishes)!
and we also went to Ullapool in search for the best Fish and chips... (Tip: The Seaforth Bar Restaurants) On our way to Ullapool we stumbled upon Rogie falls by accident, but definitely worth the visit if you like waterfalls!!
I could write on and on... but you'll just have to take our word for it and find out yourselves.
Neil & Justine haven't said one word to much on their website!
We had THE most wonderful time, mostly thanks to Millness Croft and the friendliness that comes along with it!
We will definitely visit again... one week was way to short!
Can't wait to see it all in summertime!!
Thank you so much Neil & Justine!
As the title allready said; Millness Croft stole our hearts!
