“Amazing get away”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

Spent the first week of Nov in Chisholm cottage and from the minute you walk in the door you get the wow factor. The cottage was spotlessly clean and had everything you could possibly need.We had amazing weather sun every day and even temperatures as high as 17 which enhanced the many trips we made.We visited Ullapool,Plockton,Fort Augustus,Inverness,Urghart Castle,Plodda falls,Affric Glen and still spent a lot of time chilling in the cottage so not surprising we didn't want to leave.Enjoyed our week so much looking to rebook a break for next March.

Room Tip: Very peaceful location

“Lovely week of R&R”

We spent just under a week in Chisholm in October, it's a very well appointed cottage, very warm, clean and all that you would ever need for self catering break. Attention to detail on all the furnishings. The location is ideal for exploring the local countryside, we had a days walking in Glen Affric and another locally. Inverness is less than half an hour away with all you need including m&S for super duper ready meals that mean you don't have to leave the comfort of teh cottage.
The owner Neil, was extremely helpful during the booking process and welcomed us to the cottage on arrival. Nothing was too much trouble.
Highlights - pine martens outside, no rain all week and the fantastic free range eggs. I would say the double bed is a bit on the small side for a 5 star but the comfort and linens more than make up for it.

I would certainly recommend this to a couple who want a bit of peace and quiet from hum drum of work and recharge the batteries in very comfortable surroundings with the choice to go explore or stay in your cosy cottage equally appealing!

“Excellent quality and good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2011

I find it odd that the (admittedly) very small minority of people who don't give these properties high marks comment on the fact that there is a road close by and that the properties are relatively close together. Both of these facts are undoubtedly true but there is nothing to stop them doing what we did and asking all the right questions before deciding to book. Neil couldn't have been more accommodating about our queries and replied promptly, enclosing photos of the cottages. We were then able to make a considered decision and are pleased that we did choose to stay at Millness Croft. Our cottage was probably one of the cleanest we have ever stayed in and our standards are high!! The comments about the kitchen being small are quite frankly, rubbish. There was everything we needed in the property to have a thoroughly enjoyable holiday and the standard of fixtures and fittings are extremely high.
Neil is an very nice chap and we both took an instant liking to him. It is obvious that he genuinely wants to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. (Justine was away during our stay).
Ignore the adverse comments about the road - we live on a farm and there was no more traffic at Millness Croft than we experience down our lane!
We have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending these cottages for a lovely stay in peaceful countryside close to Loch Ness. All those people who go back year after year cannot be wrong!

“Our second home in the wonderful Highlands”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2011

This was our 6th visit to Millness Croft and we stayed in the Chisholm Cottage. Everything was perfect (as usual). It is such a relaxing place to visit and you have everything you could wish for (and more). It is lovely to come home to such a cosy cottage at the end of a full day out and put the roaring log fire on and curl up with a glass of wine. The surroundings are perfect and it is so peaceful. It was lovely to see the birds on the bird table outside the cottage and this year we actually saw some deer. We will be visiting again. Thanks very much to Neil for looking after us - we will be back ! First class accommodation with first class surroundings. See you soon. Tracey & Dave Walsh

“The Perfect Highland Fling!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2011

Words cannot begin to describe how much we enjoyed our stay at Milness Croft this summer. We (myself, husband and 2.5 year old) had an idyllic week cooking, walking, sightseeing and generally relaxing in and around Glen Urqhuart.

To call this place family friendly is an understatement, but it would also be a great hideaway for couples and outdoorsy sorts of all types! But, for us, it was all about family fun and Neil and Justine (who I never met or saw, but who I'm sure does a lot of the behind the scenes work to make this place so special) made us feel completely relaxed from the second we arrived. Neil was always cheery and accommodating even when surrounded by midges!

Although we needed very little of it, the choice of baby & toddler equipment was excellent and everything we did use was immaculate! The ride-on toys for the decking & huge bag of farm toys, etc. definitely enthralled out little one. The only problem was explaining that he had to leave them behind at the end of the week.

We travelled to a lot of the historic sites such as Culloden, Eilean Donan & Urqhuart Castle and were amazed how much we could see within an hour's drve of the cottages. However, we also spent some lovely times on the croft in our wellies wading in the burn, counting the giant mushrooms, chasing butterflies and sitting in wait for pics of the elusive pine martens (which we had the company of twice in the week - magical!).

So, I can highly recommend Milness Croft to anyone. It can seem a little pricey without discounts, but, once you're there, you'll get real value for money.
