“Fabulous Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

I'm usually so lazy I read everyone else's reviews but hardly every bother putting fingers to keyboard myself. However, I was so miffed to read the one less than complimentary review I just felt I had to add my input!

This is a fantastic hotel, everything is excellent: location, staff, roooms, views, food, value for money etc - I could just go on and on. We stayed for four nights last year in the Glenbernie, wondering if this may be too long a stay in a remote location. Absolutely not, if you have a car, you can easily use the Atlantis as a base to explore the whole island - in fact we had to drive to Bridgetown for two of those days to watch my daughter play hockey. We have been to Barbados 7 times now and Bathsheba is my favourite location.

The only thing we thought may be of concern was that the restaurant is closed on Sunday nights. However, the hotel will put a plate of food aside for you or make up some sandwiches. As it happened, we walked down the "main street" found a bar and spent the evening supping passion fruit daquiries and eating pork chops, plantain, rice and peas. Superb!

Please go to the east coast - and not just on a tour of the island. Spend a few days at the Atlantis and really absorb the local flavour. I cannot describe the early morning peace of watching the fishermen swim out to their boats and bring their haul in later in the day. Or watching the women cleaning their catch. Visit the Andromeda Gardens, a gorgous environment, the wildlife reserve, signal station, or just walk along the fantastic beaches collecting seashells as you go. Watch all the daytrippers disappear and have Bathsheba to yourself.

We will certainly be visiting Barbados again and without a single doubt we will be staying at the Atlantis.

Could not have said it better myself.
Thanks for the glowing review - I would add that St. Nicholas Abbey is a must for every visitor visiting our island. 3 or 4 nights at The Atlantis and a few nights at our sister property - the perfect holiday!

“Good Sunday Lunch Buffet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

We only went to this hotel for its Sunday lunch buffet which was excellent. A high quality meal at a medium price. Great views of the eastern coast. Attentive staff. Well worth a visit but might be worth booking. We turned up at 11:45 without booking and they squeezed us in so long as we vacated the table by 13:15 (we just made it away at 13:10!).

Room Tip: N/A - we only ate there.

“A Different view of Barbados @Atlantis”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

I've been to Barbados a few times before, but, have always stayed on the other side of the island closer to Bridgetown and the "happenings". My friends/family arranged this trip, so I was more than a little concerned as we traveled through what seemed to me the more rural side of the island. But nothing could beat that first awe inspiring view of the Atlantic ocean as I checked in to the hotel.

The Atlantis is a beautiful and charming hotel. I felt an immediate sense of peace and comfort having checked in. I spent many afternoons lazing by the beautiful pool and more than one night sitting quietly having the sound of the ocean lull me to sleep. If you are a fan of fresh beautifully prepared food, then this is also the place for you. The flying fish is excellent.

I can't say enough about the staff at the hotel. It took less than 24 hrs for them to memorize our names, occupations and countries of origins. I must make special mention of my very favorite person at the hotel "Mannie", a more delightful and jocular person it would be hard to come across, truly a charm.

While it is possible to experience all of Barbados while staying at Atlantis, I would most recommend a stay at the Atlantis for someone looking for a quiet laid back retreat, where your comfort is attended to and all you need do is relax.

“get away from it all”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

You won't know you are on a busy resort island when you stay here. There isn't much to do but enjoy the scenery and rum but you are only 40 minutes from Bridgetown by bus or taxi if you miss people..The staff was wonderful and very friendly and even gave us hugs when we left. The ocean facing rooms are wonderful and so well ventilated we never turned on the AC. Large spaces, we loved it. Food in the restaurant was very good.

Room Tip: get a corner room for cross ventilation.
