“Do not stay at The Resort go to the park accomodation”

The food was ordinary, the drinks over priced and the internet the most expensive in Asia or anywhere visited in the Pacific. There was no long house, archery, rock climbing, health centre(gym) swimming pool, spa, blowpipes and disappointingly no cultural show with dinner. There are holes in the ground all over the world. I have seen tropical rainforest before but not experienced the unique culture of these locals.Massages were 3 times the price of Miri. Hot water runs out. Would I reccommend it to anyone? Only my worst enemy!

“Can't wait until a real hotelier arrives!”

We stayed here for the first night of a 5 day trip through Mulu National Park. There are signs informing that an international hotelier will soon be taking over the property. This needs to happen soon. The swimming pool is empty. The riverside bar is closed. The buffet dinner is mediocre and the cultural performance the worst we saw in Borneo. Stay somewhere else.

“Beautiful spot in Mulu!”

We were looking for a simple place to stay in Mulu, but this place is much better than expected. The hotel is clean and well organized, we could easily get transportation from the hotel to the Natural Park. The staff was nice and helpful. I recommend this place!

“One night stop!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2011

Our flight out of Mulu was unfortunatey cancelled so we put up in the Royal Mulu. Having just spent 3 days in HQ its hard to see why people opt to stay at the resort. However, it is an impressive property and with some investment it could be amazing. There are plenty of rooms and they are clean and spacious if a little dated.

The facilities seemed ok, a small pool which the HQ doesnt have (and its hot hot hot in the rainforest) and a bar and restaurant serving refreshments with a small shop.

To get the most from the park, and to avoid the hassle of getting in and out, I would recommend the HQ accomodation - also, for a more authentic rainforest experience, its better to be in the park.

“web site does not do it justice”

Part of a package hoilday touring Borneo , the Royal Mulu was one of the locations we were due to stay at.I had looked at the reviews and viewed the web site neither were that impressive and to be honest I was not looking forward to the few days we had there . How wrong can a person be , eveything about it was first class. The room was enormous ,a different style admittedly, but isnt that what one expects when touring another part of the world. The food gave plenty of choice, the trips were well organised with a superb guide ,the swimming pool was fantastic, I couldnt find fault with anything .Given some of the awful reviews I had read please be assured if there were any cause for complaint I would not hesitate to say so .The staff were welcoming and attentive I frankly could not have asked for more .
