We have visited here a few times in recent months after hearing that it was under new ownership and we have thoroughly enjoyed it each time. The main bar area has a lovely welcoming atmosphere with it's unusual centerpiece bar in the shape of an old ship's hull. The restaurant area is small but serves great pub food and there is also a lovely huge beer garden to the rear of the building,

We stayed overnight in one of the guest rooms - it was modern, warm and tastefully furnished and the breakfast in the morning was fantastic.

“Old Smugglers Inn - a great weekend away”

Stayed in the Smugglers for a short break in the country. Room we stayed in was furnished to a very high standard and great value (breakfast was great as well). Pub has great atmosphere - the bar is a boat (see pictures on the website) and there is an open fire. Meals are avialable for lunch and dinner. The food used is all loca,l which is a real treat. The local are is lovely with great walks on the Solway coast. The nearby town of Castle Douglas offers lots of cafes and a great brewery to visit.
