My friend and I recently stayed at West Lodge Park. I would thoroughly recommend it from the champagne breakfasts to the afternoon teas and dinners. The staff are very helpful and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for them. Everything done with a smile. The grounds are just lovely to walk around even when its very cold outside with the knowledge that when you step back inside the hotel it will be very cosy and inviting. Will definately recommend it and return.

Thank you for your kind comments about the hotel and the staff.

The weather has been very cold and a second snowfall has left the arboretum at West Lodge Park looking exquisitely beautiful if a trifle inaccessible without wellies ! (which we provide for our guests ....)

I am pleased to report that all our driveways and car parks are clear, and that a warm welcome awaits all our guests as usual during this winter period.

Thank you for taking the time to report to Tripadvisor following your stay at the hotel, and come back again when the weather warms up a little !

With kind regards,

“Tree mendous and delicious”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

My wife and I celebrated her birthday and a recovery from a major operation by having a weekend stay. I had been to see the arboretum with The Royal Forestry Society and had been impressed by the well kept grounds years before. The staff were so helpful and welcoming when we booked by phone and then when we arrived. The food in the Mary Beale restaurant was true Masterchef. Full of flavor and beautifully presented. After three courses I had to take a walk before going to bed. Amazed how quiet the country side and grounds were despite being within the M25 and only 14 miles from the center of London.
The kipper I had for breakfast was so succulent. My wife does not like cooking them at home, so it was a treat.
The whole week end was tremendous value, not least being able to enjoy the walk around the trees.

Room Tip: Go for the best.

Thank you for your kind review following your visit to West Lodge Park Hotel.

I am so glad that, as someone interested in trees and a member of the Royal Forestry Society, you were able to enjoy the grounds even in the depths of winter.

We have been so busy during this winter period planting dozens of young trees in the Beale Arboretum, and tending to the maturer trees through the recent gales.

We have also been busy working on our collection of Taxodium Distichum in preparation for an application for national collection status, to join our collection of Carpinus Betulus as an official National collection.

I am glad too that as well as the lovely trees, you found the staff and the food to be well up to scratch.

Do come again when the weather warms up, and feel free to ask for me if you would like another tour around the arboretum.

With kindest regards,

Andrew Beale

“Fantastic hotel for business! Would stay here business or pleasure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

I have now stayed at this hotel twice and on both occasions have been extremely impressed by the rooms, the staff and the hotel overall. Each of the rooms I have stayed were both big (entrance hallway with walk in wardrobe) with large beds in a separate room and both had large Flatscreen TVS and free wifi is provided (no logging in required) - I booked a double room on both occasions but did get a free upgrade to the Chestnut Lodge on my 2nd visit which is out the back of the hotel and the rooms did appear to be larger.

The food in the bar was delicious and the breakfast, although very pricey at £16, is superb.

Overall absolutely superb

Room Tip: If you get offered a room in the Chestnut Lodge take it!

Thank you for your kind comments following your two stays at West Lodge Park.

I am pleased that you found the hotel to your liking, and that you found the rooms, and the staff so good.

As you found, the majority of our bedrooms have walk in wardrobes and separate bedroom areas, and the Chestnut Lodge Bedrooms are indeed very large, being described by the AA inspector as five star in their size and facilities.

We are currently re-doing the Hadley Suite in the main part of the hotel which is 71.4 m2 in size, broken down into two luxury interconnecting bedrooms and en suite bathrooms, which opens up into a huge suite suitable for a family of six or a Prime Minister !

I am glad too that the food at dinner in the bar and at breakfast was also satisfactory.

Do come again to the hotel when you are next in the area on business.

With kind regards,

“True Treasure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

I must say that this hotel has everything that one can wish for (A+). My family and i have been here for weddings, teas, dinners, weekends and it is absolutely gorgeous. The room was lovely clean and spacious with room for an extra bed.( Toiletries, bath robes etc. were provided for each of us) The bathroom was an A+ for the kids as they could lay in the bath and watch the freeview television. The staff are well presented, well trained, helpfull and friendly. The meals/menus are wonderful and the chef/s really cater to your likeness especially for the kids. There is a great Arboretum ( well kept and really lovely especially spring/summer) and lovely ponds. Another great + for the hotel is that it is very close to the M25, Trent Park restaurants, shops and Cockfosters underground station. The only problem was the broken ironing board which was quickly amended by a lovely and friendly maintainance guy. All in all this is a really lovely, peaceful and relaxing hotel.

Room Tip: If you're looking for peace, quiet and seclusion, ask at reception. They've got a section of...

Thank you for your extremely kind review of West Lodge Park,

I was particularly encouraged to read that you had been here many times over the years for all sorts of different occasions.

I think this is the hardest aspect of running a hotel, keeping standards up to a consistent level so that people like you can come to the hotel again and again and not be disappointed.

We have just had our first full AA inspection for almost 3 years today (2nd Feb 2012) and I am pleased to report to our Tripadvisor readers that we have increased our quality rating percentage to 81%, 4 stars, and kept our treasured rosette for the cuisine.

Thank you for taking the time to write down your thoughts about West Lodge Park and I hope we can look after you well for many years to come !

“Lovely hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

I recently stayed overnight at West Lodge Park and found it to be a charming hotel.

The hotel itself is a very attractive building set in lovely gardens. My room was well appointed and comfortable. Added to that, I enjoyed a very good dinner and found the staff to be friendly and helpful.

All in all, a very pleasant stay.
