first visited saddell house when i was little in the 80's at that time we stayed in the castle, it was captivating then for me, now, 26 years later we stayed at the house for my brothers wedding, the weather was glorious due to the gulf stream the locals were curious to see inside the house (a lucky few got shown round) we hired the full estate for family (both sides) and friends and hosted a quiz night in the house which i for 1 will never forget, we ran around that big old house all week never tireing from its splendour (adults and children) then at the end of the week my youngest brother tied the knot in carradale church in full highland regalia, to the sounds of one lone piper, i can assure you there was not a dry eye in that chapel, later we headed for bellachaunty to the Huntng Lodge which is a lovely warm and inviting restaurant and hotel which boasts a bar full of whiskey's old and new and tried traditional highland dancing (hilarious). All in all it was the best experience of my life, its a simplistic holiday with basic amenities ie; no telly, no radio but with the local views and a loyal car we made it our own, also be ready to take travel sickness tablets for the very steep and winding roads. Please visit this big old house it easily sleeps 13 and has bedrooms and a shower downstairs for the elderly and infirm four generations stayed there for one timeless wonderful week. ps we're going again november 2007!!! All photo's were lost except wedding ones which for privacy reasons cannot show without permission but a big one hangs in the local photographers in campbeltown its the one with the bride and groom in front of saddell castle then you'll know it wasn't all in my imagination!!!
