“Great place”

We booked a Saturday night in January and they phoned to ask if we would like another night for free! Great deal. The place is lovely, with a fantastic outlook over the loch. The decor is fine, and our room had a huge bath in the bay window upstairs. Perfect. The food was very good value, excellently cooked and generous portions made it a great experience. Sam was helpful and friendly, had great stories, was attentive and made us very welcome. Does he sleep?!
Good pint of ale, very good choice of whisky, and a cosy wee bar with a fire.
I would heartily recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Room 3 has a huge, loch facing bath!

Hi there,
thank you so much for writing a review for us, we really do appreciate it, and apologise for the delay in response, we have just been so busy since we started doing the various deals, we haven't stopped! Rest assured Sam does indeed sleep as do I - but not at weekends! Even Buster knows the difference between work days and off duty - you won't get him out of his bed before 11 on a day off!
We are so glad you had a good time, and look forward to seeing you again soon!

“Review of a review”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

I am writing in response to David A from Rothesay. As a member of a Church group he is not a good advertisement!

The Coylet Hotel is one of the gems in the area being one of the top two places for eating (I have not stayed there).. David A MUST have known this is a small hotel and that space, for guests and cars, is at a premium. He must also have known it is also a busy establishment!

To arrive with a greater number than booked without telling anyone is beyond arrogance, and to expect to be kow towed to is unbelievable.

The staff at this hotel are beyond reproach, as are the management, and are more than happy to assist should there be a problem. Does this person realise the harm he could do to a small business such as this by uploading vitriol? Not very Christian of you!

I have eaten here on many occasion and only once has there been a problem which was immediately sorted out by Sam, the manager.

I would ask people NOT to be swayed by this mailcious review - try it youself - you will find he is incorrect in his statements.

“Just had a very pleasant stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

My husband and I just had a weekend break at the Coylet Inn. Loved it! Great hospitality - very warm welcome from Buster the dog. Sam is such a good host with lots of fab stories.

The food is very good, Ro is an ace chef. We enjoyed every meal we had. Good all round value for food and drink.

Our dogs enjoyed chilling in front of thr fire in the bar after long walks. We also enjoyed the bar esp. the real ale and malt whiskys.

The location is brilliant, view of the loch while you are enjoying your breakfast is awesome. There are lots of great places around to go for walks and variou other ways to enjoy beautiful Argyle.

We will definetly return, probably in warmer weather.

Room Tip: If you don't have dogs with you all the rooms have a lovely view of the loch I believe. thought...

Hi there!
So sorry it has taken so long to post a reply, but it has been so hectic! Thank you for taking the time to review us, it is really good of you and truly appreciated.
You are right that the dog friendly room has not got a loch view and the others have, but as dog owners like you, how much time are you in your room when here, you are mostly out and about! We deliberately chose that particular room to be dog friendly as the bathroom is large for dog beds if they are used to being seperate, or the area under the eave in the main room if not. It also means we keep it limited to one doggy room in case we get anyone hypo allergic to pet hair etc. even though we deep clean it. We are trying to please as many people as possible and are loving meeting all these people that would have only popped in for a drink before, but are staying because we take dogs.
Again thank you, and we look forward to meeting you again, if not here, then maybe out on a good walk!
Take care and boo sends big licks!

“Sunday lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

We've just come back from the Coylet after another excellent Sunday lunch, the cullen skink is the best in the area and the roast beef, roasties,Yorkshire pudding and veg were as usual excellent, not to mention the gravy, we have been frequenting the Coylet for a number of years now and find the food exceptional, the staff very attentive, friendly and nothing is to much trouble for them and now that we've actually moved to the area they will probably see even more of of us. Thank you
