Excellent accommodation - room very clean and proprieter extremely helpful. Little else around so make sure you have food if you are walking the Pembrokeshire Coast Path.

What a surprise! A great value, clean, comfortable and welcoming hostel with beautiful views. Plenty of room for rucksacks and boots and all the stuff of a walking holiday making it ideal accommodation for the Coastal Path which is close by, plus the bus stops right outside if needed.
A word of warning though; there are no shops nearby (at least from a walker's distance perspective) so arrive with your food if self catering. If eating out , breakfast and other meals can be taken in Trevin.

I stayed at Caerhafod at the end of April 2011 with a group of friends. There were 22 of us so we were able to take over the whole place and had a fantastic time. The location is great with views out to sea and within easy reach of Whitesands Bay and St Davids. We were lucky to have great weather and hired wetsuits at Whitesands to swim and surf and built some amazing sandcastles!
There are 5 rooms each sleeping 5 or 6 people and all with an ensuite shower and toilet. They were really clean with bedlinen provided. The kitchen has plenty of space for everybody to cook and eat together and, again, it was kept really clean. There are also picnic tables outside so that you can sit and look out to sea over dinner .
The lounge area is a good size with sofas and armchairs although there aren't quite enough chairs for everybody to sit at once which is really the only criticism and wasn't much of a problem.
This is a great place to stay if you want to relax with friends and have beautiful beaches and walks on your doorstep and a comfortable clean place to come home to at night and who doesn't want that?

I stayed at Caerhafod Lodge, near Porthgain, for 1 night, with one friend. Our room contained 2 sets of bunkbeds. Although intended for 4 people, we had it to ourselves at we stayed there pre-school holidays and post-bank holiday. The room was very pleasant, pristine, with a nice, airy feel thanks to one window looking out into the yard and 1 skylight. The shower is en-suite, as is the toilet. Crossing the yard you reach a very well equipped kitchen with a warm communal feel and a door leading straight into a walled garden with an undisturbed view right to the sea!! Having breakfast outside in the morning sun with such fantastic views will be the nicest memory of my stay there.

Walkers of the coastpath beware: though the Lodge's own website claims it lies within 'walking distance' of Porthgain, you still have to walk almost 2 miles up county lanes to reach it from Porthgain. After a 20km walk, we were a bit shocked to find out that 'within walking distance' meant a full 2 miles (especially if you have to walk back to Porthgain to have dinner and back again to the Lodge)... However, the landlady was very kind and gave us a lift to the Lodge once I explained we were actually walking and not driving to the Lodge. Don't bank on it though!
