“Warm, Friendly Pub.”

WE arrived mid afternnonn and were greeted very warmly and helped with information about the surrounding sights. Pre dinner drinks in the lounge were great and the owner personally took our orders for dinner in the lounge without us having to leave our seats -great service!! We stayed mid week , but the dining room was still very busy with a lot of locals eating there, Dinner was cooked to perfection, but take note; the portions were enormous - both the entrees and the mains.( We were that full we could barely get up from the table after dinner). Service during dinner and again next morning for breakfast was friendly and efficient without being overbearing - well done.
Our room was large enough to accomodate two large suitcases with room to spare.
Plenty of hot water and comfortable pillows, however our bed was the one disappointment from our stay, a better mattress would have been preferable.
The gardens outside were very picturesque, however the traffic noise in the gardens was roaring until the traffic died down in early evening.
Overall, a real gem of a hotel which we would definately stay in again, both for the wonderful experience and as a central location for the Usk Valley sightseeing.

“A lovely base for all that the Wye valley and South Wales can offer”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 April 2010

We have just come back from our second stay at the Greyhound Inn. It is a couple of miles outside Usk which is a real hidden gem of a little town. The hotel is right by the A449 and to be honest you can hear the traffic but it never caused us a problem, we slept like logs! We wanted to see the Cardiff Bay area and were there in 50 minutes. Caerleon and it's Roman ruins is within 20 minutes. Overall it is a perfect place for anyone touring in that area. The Hotel is so pretty, the food glorious, all the staff very friendly and the rooms are spotlessly clean and have everything you need. We know we will be going back, which to us is a great recommendation.

“As good as any 4 star hotel”

Stayed here with my wife for one night, top quality meals good selection of real ales and spotlessly clean what more could you want. The room itself was the same as many hotels I,ve stayed in, one fault was the bed which was small and not very comfortable, that was made up for by the breakfast which was superb.
All in all I would not hesitate to stay again but would try and ge a room with a bigger bed if possible.

“Lovely country pub”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 April 2007

The Greyhound Inn is a lovely country pub with a separate building housing the accomodation. The rooms are simple but nice and the pub itself is very popular with locals, serving good food and drink in a relaxed atmosphere. We found the owner to be really friendly and made us feel very welcome. The breakfast was great and made the stay feel like extra good value for money! We will definitely be back if we pass through the Brecon Beacons again.
