We booked to stay here after reading the excellent review in the Weekend Telegraph recently and it did not disappoint. It is off the beaten track but easy to find using the website directions. Warm welcome and nice touch to deliver warm Welsh cakes to our room just after arrival. Delicious canapes served with our aperitifs and we treated ourselves to the 6-course tasting menu with accompanying wines. The food was really outstanding and we loved every course. Service was friendly and attentive. Our only comment would be that, as mentioned in a previous review, the first course is the amuse-bouche which everyone on the a la carte is served too. Also, the two last courses are both desserts and cheese was only offered at a supplement. My husband is not a great dessert fan and both of us felt that a small course of a local Welsh cheese instead of one of the desserts would have improved the tasting menu. Apart from that, with superb petits fours with our coffee, it was an excellent meal.
Our room, Bryn, was extremely comfortable (at the front of the house) and we had no complaints at all about the breakfast, which was good.
We would certainly recommend this restaurant with rooms to our foody friends.
