When we first checked into the Riding Rock Resort in January, 2012, I was skeptical. The room looked just a little worn. The air conditioner sounded like a 747 with an oil leak. The ceiling fan wheezed. The bed squeaked. But it took only 24 hours to make me a believer in the resort. The staff did their darnedest to help me feel comfortable. They fixed the bed. We didn't use the ceiling fan, and the AC mellowed out after being on for a spell. But what really hooked me was the staff. This is a family owned operation, with hands on management. That translates to customer satisfaction. If I wanted to talk to the owner, no problem, she's behind the counter. Or he's helping around the property. Their regular dive master position had just been vacated, and their go to guy that steps in when they need temporary help is a peach of a guy. And he's from Michigan! As am I. Tyler and Jim, his assistant, were more than great. And they had backup help from John as well. The diving was all it's built up to be, with plenty of sharks, fish, coral and sponges. Our boat captain, Bruce, is knowledgeable, dependable and a nice guy to boot. They all made our group of 14 feel like we were valued customers, as well as family. The food was good, not great, but good. The wait staff and Peaches, the bartenderess, were also part of the great experience. I would defiantly come back.
