Just returned from a week in Columbus Ialand. Great GO team, specially Jean Paul and the dive team. Very pleasant rooms for Club Med standard. Highly recommended.

You feel like you have the mile-long, turquoise beach to yourself. It only feels crowded where it should feel crowded: at the relaxed beach shack bar, and at the indoor bar, where there's plenty of live music and dancing.
The accommodations exceeded expectations. Ours had ocean view, terrace w wicker furniture, carved antiques(which, incidentally, are all over the resort), plenty of sitting space, walk-in closet, iron and ironing board, hair dryer, tv, coffee maker. Bathroom could have used updating as two tiles fell off in the shower! Good daily maid service.
The GOs were terrific, genuinely wanted everyone to get involved. Evening shows were somewhat amateurish but seemed to have some professional dancers as well. They put a lot out, always lots of energy; favorite was the the comedy, extremely clever and funny; could have seen it on off-Bway.
As for food, there couldn't have been more of it. However, many dishes needed help. The best were fresh fish, fresh fruit, salads, excellent breads, and some desserts. I'd skip the dishes that looked reheated from the day before. There is definitely something for everyone in the overwhelming buffets. Of course, all drinks are free. Most elegant dinner: one night, tables were placed around the pool and a wonderful singer entertained us as we dined.
Sports: plenty of choice, excellent instructors. We went in January and the water wasn't warm. The snorkeling and scuba trips did not go out for the first 3 days we were there due to weather.
Population is about 70% French, maybe 20% Italian(the Italians were so much fun, spontaneously breaking into arias and bringing a freezer case of the most delicious gelato with them!) Americans are a minority. Great opportunity to meet Europeans if you're friendly! Most are adults, as there is no formal children's program.
Airport is two minutes from the resort!

The coloured cottages containing 4 rooms each, disseminated in the property and linked to the main building by a shaded boardwalk are a very nice style. It was easy to find lounge chairs and an umbrella on the long white beach at any time even if the club was almost full. Food was varied and excellent. GOs were friendly but never harassing, respecting our desire for quietness and as a middle aged couple we never felt out of place.
In short, for a first at a Club Med this was a wonderful experience !

I was in Club med Columbus for the second time this year. I love that place. The beach is amazing. I was travelling alone and the G.O team there is great. I met a lot of new friends. Special thanks to the Scuba team; Jean-Paul, Stephane, Daniel,Frank, Marie-Pierre, Damon, Paco....you guys are just soooooo nice and helpful even if I was a beginner diver. You make me feel confident. I recomment to everybody to learn diving with this team!!! I don't want to forget anybody but I would also like to thanks the reception team for their help, the bar team for the good drinks ;), the kitchen team who is doing amazing food, the sports team and all the other people who work there. Thanks guys for nice holidays, it was amazing to be with you for new year eve!!! :)
