Dear Traveller;
Having chosen to visit an "out-island" please do not expect nor desire Hog Island nor Paradise Island.
Nor should you visit the Bahamas in search of "haute cuisine" - if this is what you look for on a holiday go to St Martin or St Barths.
A wonderful meal is always on tap at the Rainbow Inn (just north of GHB) or a great pizza at Mate & Jenny's ( South Palmetto Point) - do not be afraid to ask for whatever toppings float your boat - they'll accomodate if available.
To whit - those who complain about insects in their rooms :
tiny ants ; they are looking for sugar- anything sweet goes in the fridge - better yet - don't keep it in your room - OMG - the CountChoculas etc...
roaches: if there is nothing for them, they'll be gone - be tidy
geckos: not insects - learn to love them - they eat all of the critters...
To the couple who complained about prices on the Island -
i) study the economics of supplying an (small) island by ship
ii) buy the fallow pineapple plantation north of J.C. and operate it as a co-operative
iii) try St Martin (hah)
or
iv) be silent
I was fortunate in that I worked on this island for some 3 years; I enjoyed (with very few "off moments") my entire time there.
This accolade is not written just for U.V.; but more for North Palmetto Point et al
and all of the American Airlines/USAir/Bahamas Airlines ladies who made my life so much more pleasant!
TIA
Katherine
