“Best on a beautiful beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

We first stayed here in 2003, we were looking for a thatched cottage on a beach.
FBV offers that and more with a casual but elegant open dining area, a lovely outside honor bar and a good mixture of American and Bahamian food.
The staff are friendly and very helpful just like all Cat Islanders. We fell in love with the island and have stayed here on several occasions since

Room Tip: Check out there web site for room locations! Some rooms on the beach might be a little less private

“Fabulous beachfront...simple,warm accommodations”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

Experienced a very relaxed homestyle island retreat complete with camp fires at night and gorgeous sunsets. Bicycles were made available to explore the island of which there wasn't much to see aside from the deserted north beaches that went for miles and of course the Hermitage which is the only other thing to see on the island. If you want a place to escape to...this is it..No tvs just relaxing with a good book and an open bar....A big departure from the bustle of Nassau...

Room Tip: Shane's shack was ideally located..ask to be close to the main restaurant

“Paradise Found”

Fernandez Bay is truly Paradise found. I have travelled a great deal because we are a diplomatic family. Over the yeras, I have spent a great deal of time researching the most remote and beautiful destinations that best match my idea of a desert island fantasy. I searched no more the first time we visited Fernandez Bay Village. There are few places left in the world that are untouched, yet offer amenities that are comfortable without being intrusive or too 'posh'. Personally, I prefer oceans to pools and empty beaches to organized activities. Fernandez Bay offers me easy chats with staff who take the time and trouble to show me how to make local bush tea, and I can always raid the afternoon plate of homemade cookies which are delicious and free. For our family, Fernandez Bay Village will always be "Paradise Found" - we love it and highly recommend it for people who love nature, privacy during the day and friendly chats with a glass of wine by a bonfire at night.

Room Tip: The website has a good description of the rooms and their locations. Some are great for families an...

“As close to paradise as you can get!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

We first visited Fernandez Bay Village on the recommendation of a friend in 2001 and immediately fell in love with it. We have been very blessed to experience a large portion of this planet and Fernandez Bay Village remains our #1 favorite vacation location.

Granted you'll be hard pressed to find a more beautiful sugar white sand beach with calm surf and tropic temperatures, lots of water activities and great fishing. But, the thing that we so look forward to is the atmosphere. The resort owners and long time staff provide a family environment second to none. On arrival, we are greeted on a first name basis with a hug! How many resorts have you been to where that happens?

Whether you are a returning guest or a first timer, you cannot escape the warm, friendly, relaxing environment. We have met so many wonderful people over the years at Fernandez! People from all parts of the globe. In most resorts today you are lucky to exchange more than a hello with another guest. The happy hour around the honor system tiki bar provides a wonderful opportunity for so much more than "hello". It's a rich and rewarding experience we have not found any place else.

In our book, a vacation is supposed to be relaxing. Down time from the hubbub of our hectic lives. Relax with a book from the library or lay on the beach under an umbrella or in tree swing with your own book and absorb the sound of the surf, warm gentle breeze and great aromas coming from the kitchen! Need more? Take a bicycle and go exploring. You can't get lost. It's an island. If you are a die hard, Internet is available in the main building. Cell service is also readily available. However, we recommend taking advantage of your "off" switch!

Weather permitting, you can dine on the patio only a few steps (like 6) from the beach! After dinner visit with other guests around the beach camp fire. Later, stroll down the beach to marvel at the sky. The absence of light pollution makes for a stunning sight!

In some ways I hesitate to write this review because it might make it more difficult to get our next reservation. But then again, we wouldn't have enjoyed so many wonderful trips had it not been for our friend. And yes, I don't normally write reviews. This is a well deserved first.

Getting there is easy. Our entire family, children, spouses and grand children made our Thanksgiving week at Fernandez very special. Commercial flights are readily available. If by chance you are a pilot, you'll not find a more rewarding flight. Get a copy of the Bahamas & Caribbean Pilot's Guide and go enjoy!

Room Tip: Our favorites are Shane Shack or CareTakers but all are wonderful.

“Family Christmas in Paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

This Christmas we gathered our blended families 4 grandchildren (ages 7month to 13 years),4 married children with their spouses and us on our boat at Fernandez Bay Village. We have been visiting the Bay for over 20 years and have always wanted our children to experience this special and magical place. Each family had their own stone villa and we met each morning for breakfast at the resort and sort of planned the day...kayaking, beaching, fishing, tagging turtles and snorkeling. Christmas Eve we all ate the Resort and danced to Junkanoo and ate fabulous food. Thank you Tony, Pam, Shane, Tamarin, Mark and Donna for our best Christmas ever.

Room Tip: Royal Palm or The Point House for quiet
