My family and I went to the Green Turtle Club the week between Christmas and New Years. We've been before (but not since 2001) and loved every minute of it. Luckily, it was just as good as we remembered. Upon our arrival, we were treated to Tipsy Turtles (rum drinks) by Miss Debbie, a sweet and friendly bartender. We stayed in Papaya cottage which was clean and nice and offered a lovely view of the harbor. I highly recommend renting a boat from Donnie Sawyer at Donnie's Boat Rentals, we did so and took the boat to the south shore of Green Turtle Cay. At low tide you could anchor on a sand bar and find lots of white sand dollars and conch shells in the blue water. We also took the boat to No Name Cay, which had a white sand beach and a coral beach on the ocean side with big waves. We also rented a golf cart (highly recommended) in order to explore the island and travel to the nearby town of New Plymouth.
The resort offers casual and fine dining. In my opinion, fine dining offered the same meals for $10 more per plate. All the food is very good, so stick with the casual dining. Our server Renee was the best, she even danced with my dad on the last night of our trip!
Our return flight left out of Marsh Harbour instead of Treasure Cay. The resort staff graciously scheduled transportation for us (about a 40 minute cab ride). They were very prompt and professional!
There are two things that resort guests should be aware of: 1) Everything is VERY expensive here, both on and off the resort property. A case of beer at the liquor store is $50. A small box of crackers at the grocery store is $5. Dinner for 5 (casual dining) is $250. Keep in mind that on the resort property, 15% gratuity is added to all dining bills. The costs are understandable since the island is so remote and everything is imported, its just something that guests should keep in mind. 2) Since the island is so remote, there's not a lot to do at night. This was fine for us, we went to bed very early every night. But someone looking for nightlife might be disappointed. The Gully Roosters played at the GTC one night, but that was about it.
I absolutely loved the Green Turtle Club and will most definitely be back. It's a true Bahamas experience.
