“Absolutely the best time”

We had a great time in Freeport. Grand Lucaya was a great hotel. The staff was friendly, attentive and accomodating. Book any excursions once you get there, not prior to traveling. We booked the dinner cruise and it was cancelled due to low numbers. But, we went to the fish fry instead which we enjoyed great food, music and dancing right off the beach. Port Lucaya has some good restaurants too! You will enjoy this vacation!

If you can, take the Nassau day trip if you are a city person. It was fun to see the difference between the two islands and we appreciated the carefree quiet Freeport atmosphere after visiting Nassau.

Room Tip: Ask for a ocean view room above the 6th floor. If possible a corner ocean view room.

“Grand Lucayan Hotel Review”

7 nights - Jan. 30 to Feb. 6. - We had the all inclusive plan which is great, no worries about food or drinks. Just need to sign the bill each time which was no problem.

The main breakfast buffet was very good. I usually ordered the omelet with the works, sausage, bacon, small potatoes, pancakes, OJ, bottled water, and the coffee is Starbucks. (there is food, fruits, yogurt etc cereal etc.)

At the time there were two restaurants, China Beach, classy, excellent food, LOTS of selection. We enjoyed sitting outside at the the more casual but classy Iries, which had a delicious 10 oz Angus steak. Also enjoyed the snapper, appetizers and deserts.

Th Starbucks coffee shop is open till 10 at night, and with the all inclusive package we devulged in coffee, teas, brownies, large fruit tarts and my wife's favourites, packages of M and M's. We could have had one of everything in the store if we wanted. Also, when we were planning a day trip, we took prepared ham, turkey sandwiches, chips, brownies bottled water etc. with us. In general, this is a lovely resort, good drinks, friendly staff.

I was a little worried at checkout time but as soon as i mentioned we had all inclusive plan, they said your okay no extra charges and away we went. This time of year was a good time to visit, not too crowded, service was good, food was excellent.

If you take the time to chat with the staff you'll find that they are very friendly and happy to talk with you. Many knew us by name after a few days.

“Wonderful Accomodations”

We stayed at Grand Lucayan Feb 3 - 10, 2012 and had a wonderful time. The weather did not cooperate as we had rain at least once a day and sometimes twice. The location of the resort was perfect for walking to Port Lucaya Marketplace. We shopped and sampled restaurants in the marketplace despite the weather. I agree with others who said that the resort's restaurant, Willy Broadleaf, was good for breakfast - in value and also selection. We did try other restaurants but for $14/person including drinks and tip, it was the best deal. They had an omelette station and a good selection of breakfast items - french toast, pancakes, fruit, cheese, muffins, home fries, cereal, etc. We also tried Prop Club and would not recommend -
I found the staff at the resort to be very helpful and pleasant to talk to. A smile and friendly word goes a long way.
We booked an oceanview and were put on the 9th floor. Even with the rain, the view was outstanding. Resort was quiet as this is not the busy season, but that's our kind of vacation we enjoy.

“Definitely recommended, best staff in the Bahamas!”

My wife and I just returned from a four day trip to the Grand Lucayan Resort. We decided to take a quick winter break without the kids and went with our neighbors. We got a great deal on Cheap Carribean and we were surprised when we got there about the quality and professionalism of the resort and staff. The lobby was huge and impressive. There were events all day every day, that were fun. The weather did not cooperate so well, but we went in the middle of February, and most of the locals we met said that the weather was very unusual. We did get a chance to explore the marketplace and all the restaurants and bars in the areas. We found all of the food to be very good and very reasonably priced.

Our favorite part of the trip was the staff at the Lucayan. Everyone wnet out of their way to make us feel genuinely welcome, had great converstational skills and a great sense of humor. I highly recommend the pool bar and the China Grill for afternoon cocktails and snacks or lunch. Our favorite bartenders were definitely Catherine and Dwain, go see them!!!! There were lots of others over there that we got to know but I don't remember all their names.

We also spent a couple nights in the Prop Club, their nightclub on the property. In two evenings at that bar, we watched some sports, competed (and won) in a karoke contest, a dance contest and watched a great concert. The staff their is just as fun and friendly as the rest of the resort. I could not recommend the Grand Lucayan more!!! Great job everyone!

Room Tip: Choose the oceanside room. The views in the Island View were not that great
