My mother and I spent a week with Mike and Anne of Auntie Anne's Bed & Breakfast, and thoroughly enjoyed our trip. The house has three guest rooms, one a family suite, one with a king-sized bed, and one with two double beds, which is where we stayed. The suite has its own bathroom and the other two rooms share a bathroom in a semi-private wing of the house. The rooms are pleasant, the breakfast is good, and Anne and Mike really go out of their way to make you feel welcome and help you get oriented. It is also an amazing deal for the area, $70 per day including breakfast and airport transfers.
The location is a nice 10-15 minute walk from the beach, and probably double that to the Port Lucaya area filled with the big hotels, restaurants and shopping. We were graciously offered a ride to Port Lucaya every evening for dinner, and it was easy to walk or take a bus ($1) or taxi ($7) to return. We also borrowed bikes to see more of the island and took Anne and Mike up on their suggestions of activities. They are very helpful with advice for people unfamiliar with the area, and have friends who they can contact who run tours or even to rent a car for the day.
One thing potential guests should know is that there is a family dog, Rio, a friendly yellow lab. He is great company for those who like dogs, and does not go into the private rooms, but otherwise has the run of the house so might be a problem for people with allergies.
I recommend this B&B for anyone searching for a good value in a more personal and friendly setting away from the crowds on Grand Bahama Island.
