“Go some place else!”

Worst vacation my wife and I were ever on! Plumbing hanging out of the tub, floor so dirty you have to keep your shoes on,ice maker only works on the third floor, and the people that work in this area only want the money in your wallet but arent willing to work for it! Worst food in the Bahmas for sure considering there is only one resteraunt at the resort....they dont have to care what it tastes like! One thing is for sure make sure you have lots of gold in your pockets if you are going to stay at this resort....ITS VERY EXPENSIVE TO STAY ON GILLIGANS ISLAND! So much for our anniversery trip, we only wished we had gone back to Mexico instead!

“Flamingo Bay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Great staff and a nice location. Pool was wonderful. Ferry was only $5 to TAino Beach where all the shopping and markets are. HINT: Make sure you buy beer from the market (much cheaper) and stock up on food, etc. there. Make sure you visit Domino's pizza, and for dancing the best place is Roosters!

Room Tip: Make sure you request an oceanview room!

“Nicest Staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

We stayed a week over Christmas. The staff really made our stay memorable. We set out small nativity scene with a candle in the room and the housekeeping staff left us a lighter without even asking. As we heard from one of the staff, she was "full of jolly" even though she was working on Christmas. Freeport has some of the friendliest people. The hotel shares amenities with its sister property across the street. This includes restaurant with ocean view, swimming pool with bar, and water slide and miles of white sand beach. You have to check out the bonfire show. It’s a great location with a ferry directly to Port Lucaya the main tourist spot with many restaurants and shops and another beach. The activity center at the hotel makes it easy to plan your activities. Some activities depart from the marina on the back of the hotel. The accommodations are plain but very clean and the staff really takes care of your vacation. There is an option to participate in a time share presentation at the Taino sister property but that is entirely optional with no pressure. We highly recommend this for couples, families and single people looking for a getaway. If you have a chance visit the Bahamian brewery store on the west side and try the patties at the Pepper Pot. They're all good.

“Motel across from Taino Beach”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

This was a very old hotel more like a motel with all outside corridors and no elevators in this three-storey building. It costs $27 taxi fare for two people party plus $3 for each additional person to get here from the ship port. Hotel is located on the other side of Lucaya Port. There's a water taxi behind the hotel that leaves every hour up until 11PM to Port Lucaya for $5 roundtrip. The hotel has a very small lobby with an adjacent cramped gift shop. They do have a luggage storage room and will hold luggage for you if you are unable to check into your room or if you have a late departure after check out (not sure if there's a cost for this or not as I did not use the service). The hotel staff were very friendly and provided very helpful island information. The hotel room smelled musky and the bathtub knob broken. The room had a noisy wall a/c and ceiling fan along with a small kitchenette (microwave with utensils and refrigerator). The beach is right across the street from the hotel and there's a beach restaurant. The surrounding hotels and timeshare condos have a lovely pool and jacuzzi as well as a swim up bar which I presume we were allowed to use. Aside from that there is nothing going on in this neck of the woods; all the action (shopping, bars, restaurants, water sports, night life etc.) are all located in Port Lucaya but beware to catch the last ferry (water taxi) back at 11:10PM or take the taxi at a premium charge.
