“Yeah, but still had a good time.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2011

Yes, there was one lady at the receptionist desk that was not all smiles, she was more like very straight forward but with a small amount of cordiality. However, there was another lady who was always very nice, helpful and each time I saw her, she was smiling!! The hotel could use some updating, the rooms are basic, but have everything you'd need... I was surprised by the small kitchenette & appliances - how convenient! The bathrooms definitely need updating, their age makes them appear 'dirty'. Overall, the stay was nice, if I had to, I'd go there again. Depending on how picky you are, I'd say try it if you must and decide for yourself.

“Great for the Price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2011

Hello everyone, I stayed at the Flamingo Bay after I booked with Discovery Cruise. I had read all the bad reviews for this hotel and was a little concerned about what to expect. First the cruise was awesome. The Discovery is not a high class ship but it is much fun. Then as we arrived at the port we were greeted by a whole lot of Taxis. They took us to our hotel and we checked in right away. While we were getting comfortable my son noticed that the toilet was broken so I called front desk and they immediately changed our room. The hotel pool and beach were just feet away and the water ferry was awesome. Now the only problem is that there is only one restaurant in this hotel and is very pricey. What we did was that we went to the City Market which is a supermarket and purchased food and drinks. Now if you take the water ferry to Port Lucaya you will find many restaurants and gift shops. Also Housekeeping is horrible. It was like a nightmare. Besides this everything was great. Staff was sort of friendly. The beach side activities were very very fun. The hotel in all was actually worth what we paid.

ok, first off, they greet you with as another guest wrote", a drill seargent". yes, she is rude, and yells at you as soon as the cab door opens." no luggage inside.....put your stuff here, see the desk then me for an orientation"....so on and so forth......next check in is at 4:00 not 3:30 not 3:45...4:00....the hotel is, ok, nothing great....water pressure sucks...they missed cleaning our room the first two days......ooops, i guess they just forgot. did i mention they were rude really rude.....just ask a question, and o m g, they seem iritated and abused by you.....now money, expensive.. to start but every thing... EVERYTHING.....yes i used caps is charged with 15% gratuity added.... a soda, a beer ,food( which sucked). all 15% added. ok, so we get passed check in and dirty rooms with no water pressure.....beach is ok..... pool is nice, huge not really clean. and oh, take cash to the swim up bar no room charges allowed. and be ready to pay wow ....$ 7.00 a beer...oh its on the wrong side of the channel for easy access to lucaya port so they have a water taxi runs once an hour till 11 pm unless there is any kind of weather then they stop service .....5.00 round trip per person....and most of the tourist stuff is on cruise boat shedule the boat leaves they close ...tours are way over priced and also on cruise ship schedule... did i mention the people are rude cab driver even argued with me about what time my 5 am pick up was....i made the arangements for 5am not him.... they are not pleasant to deal with in general.next the bonfire ok 50dollars per person get you a cold buffet of five items all the fruity mixed up drinks like bahama momma you can drink. and twelve stick of wood stuck in the sand which the light before dark to be closed and done at 9 pm......and we did not attend the wedsday fish fry on the beach just down the shore cause they have it every week but no one could tell us any thing about it...cost, food types, when where the important details.....no atm any where on this side of the channel... basically not a good trip not ever going back find a differant island people do your self a favor it sucked staying at the flamengo hotel and marina.......

“Nice location. Poor service”

We love the resort and especially the huge swimming pool. But the service was horrible. We made our reservation 6 months in advance but we still had to wait two (2) hours after we showed up before we could get the keys to our room.
The swimming pool is huge (between 500,000 to 750,000 gallons) and really beautiful. Room is clean and food is ok and a little expansive. There is an hourly ferry boat to Port Lucaya Market Place where there are night time activities and restaurants

“Not what I expected”

After looking at the website and reading various reviews, we chose this hotel and was anticipating our stay there. After checking into our room, we very shortly checked out! I can only tell you about the room. The bathroom was not clean looking. The grout around the tub and floor was black and mildewy--the tub looked old and dirty. The white tile floor in the room had chips knocked out of just about every tile, leaving black pits and the grout was black---not sure if that was the color or it was just never cleaned properly( it did not look like that on the website). The furniture was very old and outdated, including the television. The drapes did not close all the way. The entrance door to the room would not close, you had to actually lift the door up to get it to close----it was hanging off the hinge and the door knob was loose and barely attached. We had a 1/2 inch gap at the top of the entrance door.

I feel the pictures on the Flamingo Bay website are very deceptive---the room looked very nice, beds looked nice , clean white tile floors, walls were painted in pretty yellow and blue colors, and the furniture was plain, but not worn. Our room looked nothing like that. I don't know what room the people who gave this hotel a good review, but it sure was not our room. Our room actually made me feel ill and dirty.

The reviews were right about the front desk personnel. One of them was very rude (her name was Vivian), the other one, Donna, should work at the Radisson in Pt. Lucaya because she knows how to treat customers and she was wonderful and friendly.

I was not expecting a fancy hotel, but I was also not expecting a hotel room below a Motel Six. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: Take bad reveiws into consideration
