“Good Hotel and a Great Value”

Just returned from a short stay at the Bell Channel.
Staff: Very friendly and helpful. Front desk was great, Jeanie was a great help and source of knowledge, and the restaurant staff were efficient and nice.
Room: Nice, large, good view of the channel. The decor was reflective of the island. Tile floors and small items help remind you that you are on a subtropic island. It was very clean and the maids did a lovely job. Only thing I wished for was the small bottle of shampoo that hotels give out in the States.
Amenities: The pool was nice. Small, but never a soul there. We waded in it one evening. The restaurant was quite good with great selections and a killer Bahama Mama. They offer security and a wonderful activity and tour planner who truly makes the hotel a value.
Location is about a 20 minute walk from Port Lucaya Beach and Marketplace. Others mentioned it being sketchy after dark. There was a dark stretch, but otherwise well lit. We opted for the quieter Taino beach. I did see that they offer a free shuttle in the morning to the Island Seas beach.

Room Tip: Bottom floor opens right onto the pool patio. Top two offer private balconies overlooking the channe...

“Reasonably priced”

We stayed here for three nights last month. Our spacious upstairs room overlooked the channel, which made for a nice view. Too bad the guardrail for the balcony was of a closed design which blocked a lot of the view.

A car is a must during your stay here, the only thing within walking distance is besides the restaurant/bar in the hotel, is a bar next door. The Marketplace will be a bit further to walk but doable. It is not advised to walk in the neighborhood after dark.

The bar/restaurant in the hotel has good food and reasonable prices. They have a happy hour daily, too. We were able to prepare most of our meals in the room; but finding a well-stocked grocery store was a challenge.

“Our Bahama Vacation”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2011

Our stay at the Bell Channel Inn was fantastic because of the staff and the services of Genie, the Excursion Coordinator. She was more than accommodating for all of our needs, no matter how big or small. The hotel's accommodations as a whole was moderate. The rooms could use some upgrading, but overall good for the money. The food at the restaurant was very good. The servers and the hostesses were very sociable and kind. For anyone adventurous, I highly, highly recommend "Paradise Cove" (snorkeling excursion). Not only did we see a lot of underwater sealife, but I also saw a lot of live lobsters; and when I mentioned it to the owner, not only did he get in his boat and go diving for them, but he brought them back and cleaned, cooked and served us "fresh" lobster tails. It was awesome. The Smiths (Barry and his father), were very accommodating and very sociable, and it was a pleasure spending the day at their establishment. Thanks for the memories!!

Overall, our vacation was a memorable one.

“Great Hotel!!”

We had a wonderful time staying at the Bell Channel Inn! We met Ms. Genie when we arrived and she took us everywhere we wanted to go. She hooked us up with the best conch salad for a very reasonable price. She then introduced us to Lesley, he took us fishing and we caught more than enough, it was definitely worth the money! That afternoon, we brought all the fish we caught back to the hotel and Ms. Sherri (the chef) prepared everything for us! We had a huge fish platter that night for dinner! I love watching TV and the week we went to the Bahamas was the season finale’s for all my show, awesome thing was when we got there each room as satellite TV, didn’t miss anything!!! Great time would highly recommend to anyone wanting to go to Freeport!
