“Nice & Quiet”

Generally when I go to the beach I like to be a little removed from everything. The Atlantis, while it might be gorgeous, is basically my worst nightmare. The Sunrise was lovely. A nice, relaxing, retreat. Rooms were clean. I think for the price, you are getting a great location & accomodation. The beach was steps away which I love. We could walk to the Atlantis if we wanted some action, and easily took a cab for the downtown shopping. We ate at Viola's and thought it was a bit overpriced. I understand it is Bahamas, but in comparison to the other meals we paid for, I didn't think Viola's was especially tasty or a good value. That being said, it wasn't terrible either and the bar itself was fun. The pool was a little dirty, not like disgusting dirty, but I felt like someone could have come around with a skimmer--and usually I don't go in the pool at the beach but when we were there the waves were CRAZY and we weren't allowed in. Despite the few negatives here (which really didn't ditract from our stay), if we did go back to the Bahamas (which I'm not sure we would because we are much more Team Aruba) I would definitely consider staying here again.

“Perfect!”

Our stay at Sunrise Beach was wonderful and so much more than we expected. The location is perfect. Everything you need or want is within walking distance. The beach is steps from your villa and a short walk will take you to shopping, the grocery store and the Atlantis.

Our 4 bedroom/4bath villa was spacious, very clean and had all the amenities needed for our family. My teenagers were thrilled that they had internet access and cable tv. We even had a dvd player to enjoy a movie together. I enjoyed my coffee on the balcony while looking at the white sand and beautiful blue water.

The staff was helpful and friendly. They were always smiling and willing to assist us with restaurant recommendations and reservations, calling a cab or just chit chat about the Bohemian people and their way of life.

We ate at Viola's at least once everyday. The food was good and affordable. The service was great and we enjoyed the open air dining. Archies Bar on the beach was steps away from the beautiful water where we enjoyed a refreshing tropical drink or beer. There were snacks and sodas for the kids as well.

This was a perfect vacation. We will definitely stay at Sunrise Beach again!

“Viola's - Best place to eat”

While staying on Paradise Island, I visited the bar / restaurant Viola's many times. The food was great! The prices were right! The help was fantastic, especially the bartender Miladys Jowe. She was very helpful and friendly to my whole family. She even has a Salsa night where she teaches salsa dancing. We all truly enjoyed our stay. Thanks Viola's !!!!!!!

“Relaxing Beach Retreat on Paradise Island”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 June 2011

My husband and I stayed at the Sunrise Beach Villas for 4 nights after having spent 4 nights at Atlantis. Although we had fun at Atlantis, we both breathed a sigh of relief when we checked in at Sunrise, finally the laid-back, mellow island experience that we were looking for!

Our villa was cute, clean, comfortable and quiet and afforded a "garden" view of the property. The floor level included a kitchenette and half bath, along with a comfortable sitting area. A spiral staircase led us up to our large king suite with full bath. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was supplied with thick thirsty towels, a hairdryer and plenty of toiletries.

Before starting our days, we enjoyed breakfast at Viola's, a small bar/restaurant onsite, and we were always pleasantly served by Paula, a very sweet Jamaican woman with a brilliant smile. We would then pad the plus or minus 100 steps to the beach to enjoy the crystal clear, warm, Bahamian water. A 5 minute walk up the beach in one direction would get you back to Atlantis and all its pulsing humanity, a minute or two the other direction would allow you to have the beach almost to yourself!

It was also nice to have a laundry onsite (after 5 pm for guests - thx to Jackson for showing me how to open the washer door!) as well as wireless internet access (for which we received a coupon giving us free access during our stay) And thx to Crystal for recommending and booking our wonderful snorkeling adventure with Stuart's Cove, which including hovering in the water above large reef sharks!

We highly recommend Sunrise if you want value for your money on a beautiful beach and a mellow experience. You can always get a day pass to Atlantis and walk there from Sunrise...

“Amazing Vacation... Something for everyone!”

My family (Parents and 3 adult children) stayed 6 nights at Sunrise Beach Clubs and Villas this June. From the start the staff was friendly and accommodating. We changed our travel plans at the last minute and even though there was not a 2-bedroom suite available for the first night, they suggested a one-bedroom suite the first night and a 2-bedroom suite for the remaining nights. The suites were clean and cozy with a completely furnished kitchen, multiple televisions and a nice little porch out back. There was easy access to the beautiful beach where you can easily walk to Atlantis if you like the commercial activities or you can choose to walk the other direction towards more remote beaches, which I recommend. The water was calm, warm and crystal-clear and the view truly qualifies the island for the name Paradise Island. There are opportunities to snorkel, parasail or jet ski, however we were not harassed by vendors at any point.
The restaurant Viola's, which is right on site, has delicious, reasonably-priced food. The staff there is very friendly, especially the bartender Mitadys. She was very nice and makes you feel right at home. She worked very hard to make our stay a good one and I highly recommend going to Salsa Night on Thursdays where she is an instructor. We had a blast! Mitadys is the type of employee any resort would be proud to have!
Overall, this was a great vacation! It exceeded our expectations in every way and I truly recommend that you stay at Sunrise for your next Bahamian vacation!
