“Great Location but a tired resort”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We spent a week at Club Land'or on Paradise Island. We had an enjoyable trip. Club Land'or has a fabulous location just at the end of the bridge, on the marina with million dollar plus yachts and within a short walk to the Atlantis Resort. If you are not too picky about how the rooms look, it will be a suitable Resort.

Club Land'or has obviously lacked updating over the years. The carpets are tired and the furniture is old. Instead of tropical paintings on the wall we had cottage and mountain scenes that looked as if they were purchase from a starving artists sale. We purchased the Atlantis beach passes and it was a good value. We enjoyed watching the yachts come and go on a daily basis.

The casino and the marina shops were right around the marina basin. The staff was pleasant. Our only wish is if they would redo the rooms. The units had a full kitchen but essentials like dishwashing lotion and some utensils were missing. We simply purchased and left them.

The Restaurant was sort of a disappointment. We had the grouper and it was fishy and we did not finish it or return for dinner meals. There are lots of restaurant options nearby. We had the best meals walking across the bridge to Potters Cay and had always had great meals of fresh seafood, mainly grouper and conch.

Another nice thing about Club Land'or was that it was small enough that you could easily make friends with the other guests. I don't think that would be the case at a huge mega-resort like Atlantis.

We would come again mainly because of its location. If you can deal with a aging facility, it is acceptable. If not, another resort may be a better choice.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the marina would probably be the best choices.

Thank you for your positive comments! We pride ourselves on being a small, family-friendly alternative to Atlantis, our next-door neighbor. Our guests love that they can play all day in the sun and sand then come home to a a quiet evening at Club Land'or, or take the five minute walk to the Atlantis Casino ( the largest in the Caribbean) for an evening of "adult' fun . To address your concerns about the state of the resort itself, we are currently undergoing renovations to improve the quality of our guests' experience. Thank you for your input and we look forward to seeing you again!

“Ok staff, unfortunate rooms.”

We were very excited to get to Paradise Island and enjoy our stay at Club Land'Or. We read the reviews on several travel sites and were a bit nervous but figured we would give it a try. Keep in mind, we are NOT picky people and generally make the best out of any of our traveling situations (try missing your connection AND losing your luggage on the way to Ireland). With that said, I would NOT recommend these accommodations to anyone. The staff was ok but when things went wrong, and we reported the problem, the hotel management did NOTHING to try and rectify the situation. Beyond that, the room was dingy, I would not sit on the couch because it was so broken down and thread barren, the Jacuzzi did not work, and they cornered us for a timeshare presentation. On the plus side the kitchen was cleaned daily, entertainment with Action Jackson was fun, and we had fresh linens (even if they didn't make it back to the room from laundry until 3 in the afternoon). If you stay here, it is every man for him/herself and don't expect simple things like the pool to be warm or the phone to work.

I have to say I was skeptical about this timeshare after reading the awful things that were said about it. It is dated but they are going to do a major Reno in the upcoming year. The staff were amazing! Kimmie, the person in charge of booking timeshare viewings personally drove us to meet her uncle who has a wonderful restaurant under the bridge in Potters Cay because my 10 year old wanted to go fishing without going on an expensive charter. We went to Uncle Tellis restaurant for some of the best conch on the island and some wonderful hospitality! His website is www.uncletellis.com Any of the negative reviews of Club Land 'or must have been made by vacationer who should have booked in at Atlantis where they can pay through the nose for a room to sleep in and miss out on local hospitality!

“Beware if reviews of 5 stars!”

I felt compelled to post a warning after i was contacted by this hotel and offered two round-trip tickets to anywhere in the US if I would give the hotel 5 star ratings. I declined....

Hotel is a great value and convienantly located. That is about it for positive comments unfortunetly.

Food was overpriced and poor quality. We really had to struggle to obtain th full complimentary breakfast every morning as an example. There is a bus you can take to a local grocery store to stock up the room and a fairly equipped kitchen in the room to use during your stay.

As a young family with kids we spent most of our time 'next door' at Atlantis which is an extremely expensive resort but offered a lot of options for adults and kids during the day or night.

Beds were below average. Mattresses were thin, bedding old and rough.

Would only recommend this hotel if you are looking for a cheap place to stay on Paradise Island where you can cook and sleep, while you explore the rest of the island activities.

Club Land’or offers a variety of incentives to induce past guests to return to us, just as our next door neighbor Atlantis offers “free” nights and rebates on airfare to the island. Management does not condone any employee seeking to garner ratings for the resort in the manner described in this review. Our 5-star ratings are earned through the hard work of our dedicated Bahamian staff.

We at Club Land’or are pleased that you chose to stay with us on Paradise Island (during a renovation phase which includes new bedding). The resort IS a great value in all respects, witnessed by the fact that we offer the ONLY complimentary (that means “free”) breakfast of any hotel or resort in Nassau and provide daily free housekeeping, as opposed to our neighbor Harbourside who will gladly empty your trashcan for a fee. Our Blue Lagoon Restaurant is a favorite of locals (and you know the saying about that) and is a “must-do” according to The Bahamas Tourism Board. The Dolphin Terrace Pool Bar is home to the acclaimed “Tony Burger” (ask anyone who’s enjoyed one over the years about them) and our dining prices compare VERY favorably to other choices on Paradise Island. You may get a $7 slice of pizza or $10 hotdogs elsewhere on the island, but bear in mind that you are vacationing in a world class travel destination (although across the bridge in Nassau you may find a Wendy’s). Yes, the Atlantis may well be “an extremely expensive resort” with high fees to cover the cost of activities; Club Land’or has a 30-year reputation as a safe (24-hour security and front desk services), family-friendly resort that offers a variety of free and low cost activities as well.

“Watch your wallet and your valuables”

My family just came back from staying at Club Land’or. We both work and have little time for vacations so this was something special to do for Christmas for my kids. We decided to stay at Club Land’or despite the negative reviews we read figuring it was just a place to sleep and that it couldn’t be that bad. Unfortunately that was far from the case. My daughter just turned 14 and all she has wanted for a long time was an Apple iPad. Seeing her eyes light up when I gave it to her brought tears to my eyes. She loved her iPad and brought it everywhere, including to Club Land’or. On our second to last day there the iPad was stolen out of our room. The door was not broken into meaning that the only person that could have stolen it was a Club Land’or employee. When we brought this to their attention they promised to “investigate” and discouraged us from bringing in the local police (they also didn’t mention that the police station was right across the street). They refused to do anything for us and the manager, who usually comes in at 8am, conveniently showed up that day after we had to check out (his cell phone also conveniently kept going to voice mail when the staff tried to call him). They also blamed us for having it in a place where their staff could steal it. My daughter is now beside herself. It turns out that we knew someone who stayed at Atlantis during the same week and whose cell phone was stolen. Atlantis gave him $500 even though it wasn’t an Atlantis employee who took it. This is no way to treat guests and shows a complete lack of regard for any type of hospitality. If you can afford Atlantis then stay there. If not, Comfort Suites is a better value as they give you free Atlantis access and a free breakfast every morning. Their rooms are also much nicer and cleaner than Club Land’or.
