“Ocean front relaxation and luxury”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

We just returned from a few very enjoyable days at this resort.

Our suite in the Huntington Wing was spacious and well furnished. The bathroom was large and there was plenty of storage space. Situated on the upper floor, the balcony was the best we have had anywhere (and we stay in many great places!). Extremely large and wide, we spent several blissful days relaxing on loungers in the shade there overlooking the immaculate lawns and onto the ocean.

Another perk of this resort is the Butler Service. Our three butlers couldn't do enough for us (thank you so much to Valentine, Germaine and Shamika) and, unlike in many resorts that claim to have butler service, staff were always visible and available here, ready and willing to assist you within moments. Every evening a little cart tinkles along the corridors delivering a glass of champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries as well - a delightful touch which sets you up well for the evening. Housekeeping was also generally very good.

Dining at the O&O was very good: the cuisine is fusion-style and food quality was high - plenty of ceviches, raw fish, salads plus excellent US meat. Prices are high but so is the standard, so we had no issue with the restaurants at all.

Like many other guests we also ventured over to the Atlantis resort but gratefully came "home" to the warmth and personal welcome of the O&O.

The only reason I have marked the property down to 4 instead of 5 is that service was inconsistent: the majority of staff here are wonderful and helpful, genuinely going out of their way to assist and help ensure you have a wonderful vacation. However there are others (they are in the minorty but should NOT BE EMPLOYED THERE AT ALL) who really just go through the motions. One person we encountered at Reception was extraordinarily unhelpful - I wish I'd got her name but I was so taken aback by the way she addressed us that I forgot! Management should sort out this inconsistency as these poor-performing individuals let the Resort down as well as the many other hard-working and excellent employees..

In summary, I would still recommend (but just don't even think about what it costs high season - it was very very very pricey!) - we had a very enjoyable and relaxing break.

“Felt like it was our own private paradise. Looking forward to returning”

This was our first trip to the One & Only Ocean Club in The Bahamas. We visited during the Easter Holiday weekend. The Property was impeccably maintained. As soon as we arrived and pulled up the private drive into the resort we felt like we were in paradise. The Swaying palm trees (there was always a breeze because the resort is on the point) made for a wonderful ambient soundtrack. We had a Garden View Room and our relatives had an Ocean View Suite. I have to say there were pros and cons to both rooms. Our room had a quieter surrounding and felt like we were at home looking out in our back yard, but it was a bit of a walk to get to the restaurant and to meet up with family. The Ocean Front Suite was in the Crescent Wing which is set back from the beach was beautiful and spacious. There was a terrace with a large expanse of lawn which was great for all of our children to run around and play, but if we were there for quiet or romance it would have bothered me by the lack of privacy. The Real Winner was the Kids Only Club!!!! Our 5 year old never wanted to leave it and thought that it was great. Our 2 Year Old went as well with our babysitter at times, but he preferred the beach. We had a babysitter hired from the resort and she was FABULOUS!!! She became like a family friend and we are Facebook Friends now. The Dune Restaurant was very nice yet very overpriced, great attentive service, fresh food, and never had to wait for a table. The resort even organized a private dinner on the beach, that was very special and memorable. We had an Easter Egg hunt in the Versailles Gardens and the children really enjoyed that. The transportation to Atlantis was okay, kind of frustrating with our large group but manageable. Airport Transport went very smoothly although it was quite a long ride, at least 30 minutes. We are looking forward to returning this upcoming Easter and enjoying all that the One & Only has to offer again.

“Quiet luxury”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2011

Recently stayed there for a week and had an excellent experience. Staff was attentive and all needs were met. The butlers were nice enough, but marginally helpful. Sometimes just easier to call the reservations number and make your own dinner plans. The grounds were expertly maintained and clean throughout. Pool is relatively small, but probably just the right size for the size of resort this is. Only complaint about the pool is that the servers didn't come around as often as I would have liked. It is, however, island time and we didn't starve to death so this is relatively minor. As long as you don't have overly talkative and loud guests, it was the perfect place to relax in comfort. The beach is nice and clean, but faces away from the sun so if you want to sunbathe and sit on the beach, it requires some imagination. It's a nice walk along the beach to the Atlantis if you want to visit there for the day.

The room was nice and spacious. My only comments about our room was that the mattress was a bit on the noisy side so if you're a light sleeper, it takes getting used to. Also, if you're in the main building, the Terrace restaurant is right outside and gets a bit loud, but by bed time, things are quiet again.

Food: Dune is excellent. did go off property once to the Poop Deck for dinner, otherwise stayed on the Atlantis property for convenience sake. It is pricey, but this is Nassau. Nothing is cheap on Paradise Island. Of the "big name" Atlantis restaurants, Nobu was the best. Would probably skip Mesa Grill, especially if you've been to the one in NYC or Vegas. Cafe Martinique is also pretty awesome.

When we visit the Bahamas again, we won't stay anywhere else!

“Fantastic Experience”

My husband and I spent 6 nights at the Ocean Club for our 20th anniversary. Upon arrival we were taken to a beautiful ocean view room. The room was an upgrade from the garden view that we had reserved. While at the Ocean Club we interacted with 25-30 staff members. Every single person was pleasant, welcoming and accommodating. We cannot understand some of the other comments that seem to indicate problems with service. Our butlers checked on us frequently and even decorated our room on our actual anniversary. The concierge was very helpful and made good recommendations. Food at the restaurants was very good, especially breakfast! It is relatively expensive at the resort. However it seems to be commensurate with the restaurants at Atlantis and in the marina area. If you are the type of person to quibble over prices, then don't go. Otherwise just accept that you are going to spend the money, relax, and enjoy being pampered in a gorgeous location. We would love to return to the Ocean Club and certainly would recommend it.
