“Don't listen to the bad reviews!”

I spent 3 nights at here from Feb 3-6th. We did not do the all-inclusive package because we used hotel points to stay for free. That being said, we did have to pay for the food. The only downside to staying in the Bahamas is that the cabs are pricey. For 3 of us to go from the hotel to Atlantis, it cost $24. However, keep in mind that gas prices are upwards of $5.50 a gallon! The cabbies were pretty nice and helpful. Since we had to pay for our food, we did stay in at the Amici restuarant the first night. It was great! Yes, the food was in the $20 range, but for what we got, it was worth it. Also, a couple sitting next to us gave us a tip to mention an ad you got a free bottle of the house wine! SCORE! Our waiters were soooo friendly, they even did this whole musical thing for us with what looked like homemade instruments...we were all up dancing!!
This is food and a store within walking distance. If you go to the right of the hotel when you come out of it and walk no more than 1/2 to 1 mile, there are plenty of places to stop. We had breakfast at this cute little place with red umbrella's (i forget the name, but it is on the beach side of the street) and had an amazing omelet for $10, and the coffee was AMAZING! Further down was a Starbucks (but there is a Starbucks in the hotel casino) and a market. We went there to get bottles of water and stuff to mix with our alcohol we bought at the airport in the duty-free store! That saved us a lot of money! Drinks at the hotel were near $10 each! If you buy Rum or Vodka at the duty-free, you save yourselfs some cash, just ask the bar for a glass of ice and WALLA! you have your own drink for 1/2 the price!

As for the hotel, it is pretty nice. Nothing great. The rooms were clean, the grounds were clean. Early in the morning staff could be seen outside sweeping and even cleaning the beach from debri from to ocean. You are connected to the Wyndam hotel next door. They had a great outside eating area with pretty well priced food that was delicious!

As far as going to the local "Fish Fry", I highly suggest it. It was a bit shady for us girls to be on our own, but we found a quaint little place that served authentic Bahamian meals...AWESOME! Beers there were $3 each, pretty comparative to the States.

Overall, I enjoyed our stay. When it was all said and done, we had a great time. The staff was very helpful and gave us good advice. Just ask a waiter or barman where to go and they will point you in the right direction!

Room Tip: All of the rooms have a view of the ocean, dont be fooled by chosing an upgrade online to ocean view...

“beautiful ocean side hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

After reading many of the reviews, I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. It has stunning views of the ocean and great pool area next to the beach. Our room faced the ocean and was great to leave the door open to bring the air. We found the staff to be helpful, polite and very friendly. The room was clean, shower worked well - I wish they had a mini bar. Drinks outside bar were fabulous and the music was overwhelming like it can be at other locations we have stayed. The inflatable slide was pricy and the casino is not large but it had plenty of table games and one arm bandits. My only beef is that they were all $25 minimum tables, so you could go through a lot of cash far too quickly, plus the drinks are free - not a show stopper but annoying. We found the food to be fine outside and inside. I was disappointed I couldn't use my SBUX card in the casino (it's in the back right corner), but not an earth shattering moment. Again both barking puppies - it didn't detract from our overall experience. The wifi worked fine in the lobby. We had no trouble catching the local bus or mini bus. There's huge new resort area under construction, it will be interesting to return in a few years. If you are the sort that doesn't want to leave a resort once your are there, there isn't a whole lot to walk to outside of the beach and nearby hotel. Btw, nice feature that you can charge between hotel bars/restaurants.

Room Tip: ocean view, need I say more on the West Wing

“Beautiful pool areas.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

The hotel was very nice appearing. The room was very comfortable. There were numerous pools and a nice beach area. The hotel responded promptly to our request to reset the safe so it was available for us to use. A couple of small issues however..... after three requests, they never brought an extra chair to add to the one on the balcony . They also didn't put face cloths in the bathroom after a few requests.

I overall liked the hotel. We also got it for a very good price. One disadvanatage is that it wasn't close to a grocery store. The food was expensive at the hotel and only average in quality. The #10 bus goes by frequently, so easy to catch it to downtown. The buses don't run in the evening, so add cabs into your budget to get around in the evening if you want to go out for dinner. (I recommend going to the Fish Fry area and eating at the Twin Brothers restaurant. Fabulous food..... and try a non-alcoholic pineapple daquairi. Made from fresh pineapple and is great!)

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a good view of the pools and beach.

“Excellent vacation spot (if you purchase all inclusive deal)!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

My boyfriend and I spent 3 wonderful nights at this hotel from Feb. 2nd - Feb. 5th 2012. I was a little concerned after reading some reviews I found on this site, but after having been there myself I can't help but wonder if some people didn't review the wrong hotel!!

The check in process was quick and easy; we got a bedroom with a king size bed on the 3rd floor of the West Wing. From our balcony (which is not big, granted, but was perfect for us) we could see the neighbouring condos and the beautiful beach. The room was clean, bed was amazingly comfortable and cleaning staff was very friendly!

The location of the hotel is ideal, as it is right on Cable beach. The 3 pools were amazing!! (Only one pool is heated, but being Canadians, we had not problems enjoying our swims in the two other pools as well!! ;) From the hotel, you could easily take bus #10 for 1.25$ per person, and it dropped you off at the Fish Fry or downtown (where we visited a fort). From downtown, you can also take a boat ferry for 4$ per person to get to Paradise Island.

According to the information posted at the front desk, there was always one activity at the hotel every night (such as watching a movie outside, karaoke, etc.). The hotel is also connected to the next door hotel where there is a casino and a bar where a band was playing some music at night. We saw many guests heading downtown at night, but we chose to remain on the hotel grounds.

The food and drinks were very good!! We always found something we loved, regardless of which restaurant or bar we went to. However, the prices for the food and drinks are quite high (44$ for breakfast buffet for 2, 60$ for dinner for 2, 10$ per drink, ....), but with the all-inclusive as long as you are careful what you purchase (because there are some exceptions written on paper that are provided to you upon check in), you don't have to worry about the prices!! :0)

The hotel staff was great and very helpful!! Regardless of what information we wanted, someone was always able to assist us. There are also 4 computers in the lobby with free internet for hotel guests, which was very nice!

We will certainly be returning to this hotel (as all-inclusive guests) again in the near future!! :)

“Relaxing week at a good hotel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

Stayed for one week at the Sheraton Nassau. We got a nice, clean comfortable room with a beach view - so beautiful at night. The hotel is very good. It has a nice gym. The staff are generally quite friendly, although sometimes a bit laid back. The room had free internet. One night we had dinner at the bar and it was good. Most nights we ate outside the resort. The casino was average. It was very smokey. I was there during Super Bowl weekend and laid a little wager at the casino. I went back a few times after to put in a couple of more bets but there was no one ever in the booth. Very strange but probably worked out for the best. I'm sure I would have ended up losing the money I won from the Super Bowl. Overall, we had a very good week at the Sheraton. It's a great resort right on the beach. The beach is clean and well-maintained.
