“"Exceeded our expectations"”

My wife and I stayed at the Royal Bahamian for 4 nights and wish we had booked for twice the long. The resort, and especially the staff, exceeded our expectations in every respect. We stayed at a butler suite, which I highly recommend. Contrary to a popular image of ‘stuffy’ or ‘stiff’ demeanor, our butlers, Gemayel, Vincent and Melekah were very professional and accommodating yet exceptionally personable and friendly.

Gemayel greeted us upon arrival, showed us around the resort while our luggage was being delivered to our suite, gave us a private cell phone for butler contact, reserved poolside lounge chairs for the next morning, and generally made us feel very welcome. When we departed Gemayel was again on hand to make sure our luggage was picked up and our car was waiting to take us to the airport. Vincent, who was with us during much of our stay, took care of restaurant reservations, even accompanying us to ensure prompt seating, reserved lounge chairs for us at poolside and at the beach, and dropped by restaurants to see if all was well and if he could arrange anything for us in the evening. We did not get to see Melekah as often but she, too, was professional in a warm and charming manner, ensuring that our breakfast and lunch were satisfactory as well as arranging reserved beachside lounges…and having a bath drawn with candles and flower petals around the tub for my wife (a tough act to follow now that I’m back home!).

Our sixth floor suite had a spectacular view of the beach and beautiful water, the resort itself displayed an old world sense of elegance, the food was uniformly good and the service quick and friendly. We went to the offshore island twice and found that to be even more relaxing and quieter than the main resort.

My wife enjoyed the spa twice and, having been to spas in other resorts in the Caribbean and in the States, including upscale casino spas, ranked it among the tops. Both the spa and the fitness center were in temporary quarters, and though the fitness center was only partially equipped it was still adequate and the trainer/attendant, Paul, was quite knowledgeable and, like everyone else we met on the staff, very friendly.

As noted in other reviews, the resort is undergoing construction/updating stemming from a hurricane but the work in progress was done as quietly as could be expected, no very early or nighttime work, and no doubt the finished product will be spectacular.

If there was any negative it was that the music played from speakers around the pool was a bit loud at night. A suggestion would be to mute the music about eleven or so, certainly by midnight.

All in all, we give the Royal Bahamian an A+ and we look forward to our next visit.

“Perfect Honeymoon”

Me and my husband went to sandals for our belated honeymoon and it was amazing. We chose a luxury category room with a balcony, it was one of he cheaper rooms and we loved it. We had a nice view from our balcony in the winsdor building large comfy bed as well as a huge shower/tub which was nice. Our bar was always restocked with juices sodas beer champagne wine and liquor at no additional charge. You had the option of having a continental breakfast via room service daily, however we went to Spices for their breakfast buffet daily, which was great. They had made to order omelets and eggs Benedict in addition to a great selection of fruits and other things. My favorite dinner spot was definately Baccarat, we made reservations there twice. Their beef dish is one of the best I've ever had and their duck was also very good. I think kimonos was just ok, they tend to use a lot of sauces and marinades on the food which I thought was a little too much. The overall service of all the staff was great. They were always very happy and accommodating.
The very best part of he entire trip was definately the offshore island. It was pure paradise and completely relaxing. The boat leaves at 10am and goes every hour back and forth with the last one leaving at 3:45. We stayed the whole day over there and went snorkeling on our own or layer around in the secluded cabanas, which you do not need to reserve. We saw sea turtles, sting days and beautiful fish. We did learn that we needed to purchase our own snorkeling gear at the shop bc they don't let you use theirs, you can only use them if you go on the snorkeling trip.
In regards to other reviews about the construction going on, to be honest I didn't even notice any of it.
All in all we had a blast and we can't wait to go back!!!!

“Very nice”

Jan. 2012. We stayed at the resort for our 25th anniversary. Very nice, clean, friendly. Lot of choices. What really makes the trip so enjoyable is the people at the resort but also outside the resort. We experienced real Bahamian coulture and a great people. The resort is worth going to. As for rating it I would give it a 4 star not 5. Would go back anytime. Beautiful.

“January Vacation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

We stayed for 6 nights in early January. The weather was a little cool at nights, but wonderful during the day. The food was very good and enjoyed dining at Gordon's on the Pier. The service was very good and staff very helpful and friendly.

“Sanadalicious”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

Food: Fantastic. Breakfast buffet at Spices had everything you could ever want. Nacho bar at the Royal Cafe was awesome. Cafe Goombay on the island was great- a full service restaurant which we didn't expect.
Drinks: Well- liquored and tasty. We mostly asked them to give us something delicious and they gave us a variety of excellent drinks.
Service: Great. Once we didn't get an ordered drink at a restaurant but it didn't matter because I got it at the pool a few minutes later anyway. They say a lot of "I'll see what I can do" and they make your request happen! Special mention to Michael from the Cricketer's Pub.
Pool/Beach- We had a semi-private pool/hot tub in the villas which was really nice. That pool was heated. We didn't really use either of the main pools. The beach was small but very pretty. There was some construction going on but the noise didn't hamper our relaxation.
Room: We stayed in the Oleander villa. It was clean, spacious, and had lots of windows. Villas were secluded but close to everything.
Island: Good food, very relaxing, short boat ride. Sting rays were swimming around which was very cool.
Overall impression: We want to do another Sandal's vacation. We loved the way things worked, the service and never needing to carry money with you.

Room Tip: Villas are quiet and secluded. Not too many people like in the main areas.
