“Best place to stay in Nassau on a budget. Central location. Clean. Wonderful owners.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2010

My wife and I got a great deal on a flight to Nassau and stayed here for a week. We had a fantastic time. The Mignon Guest House was recommended to us by some great friends. It's by far the best value in Nassau for seasoned travelers on a budget. It's simple and modest, but impeccably clean and located right in the center of town on a quiet street where we felt safe. The guest house is run by a warm and friendly couple who made us feel right at home and bent over backwards to help us feel welcome. Mary, who cleans the rooms and replaces the towels daily, is wonderful - an absolute gem of a person. Even though the bathrooms are shared, the bedrooms are cozy and have new air conditioning units, free wifi and small flat screen tvs with cable - more than we needed for the price. Even though it's not glitz and glam, for $55 a night, it's safe, comfortable and a great value. We'd stay here again in a heart beat.

“Great place to stay on a budget!!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 April 2010

Having a strict budget of $60-80 a night, the Mignon was the first place recommended to me by the Department for Tourism in Nassau airport.

The owners of the guesthouse are a really friendly and helpful couple who do everything they can to make your stay welcome.

The place seems ideal for backpackers or people who want to experience the Bahamas without paying $$$$'s for their first trip there. For $55 a night the rooms are a fare size with TV,AC, free WIFI and single beds. One of the owners Mary cleans your room each day and laundry can be done for you by asking politely.

The Mignon has a good location on Market Street just off the main shopping and restaurant area in Providence Island.
The great 'Fish Fry' is also a 6min bus journey away or 25 mins if you like walking.

Overall on the budget I was spending,I felt safe and comfortable at the Mignon. I stayed for 12 nights and would recommend it to anyone with the same kind of budget as I had.

“A Gem of Nassau”

My friend and I decided not to do an all-inclusive trip when in the Bahamas. We found a really cheap ticket and started to lok for places to stay in Nassau. This place is amazing. It is very simple but clean. You can not find a better deal in Nassau. The owners are amazing and you will fall in love with them in seconds. They resemble grandma and grandpa. The place is located close to everything and so you can walk everywhere. Although we did not know this before we stayed there (which would have been helpful), they do offer free water, you have access to a microwave and you can boil water for tea or soup. You have a shared washroom, which was ok. The owners are very friendly and will tell you where to go for food etc. If you do stay in Nassau, go to the fish fry and Cricket Cues, which is an amazing restaurant across the fish fry. People in the Bahamas are awesome. We also went dancing at the local club, which was down the street and it was great. Overall, amazing location, amazing people and amazing place. Howeve if you like fancy things, this is not for you.

I am sitting here on my bed at Mignon. They have wifi. If you are looking for oceanview, this is not your place, it is located in a side alley in Nassau. However, it is a 4 minute walk to the ferry to Paradise Island, the local souvenir market, Senior Frogs, the Hilton, McDonalds, Dunkin Donuts, Seafood, Liquid Lounge Club etc. If you are looking for a good jumping of point, that is cheap ($55 a night, no secret add-ons or more taxes) and within striking distance of everything. This is your spot. If you are diving, the place will pick you up here. It is about a $26 cab ride from the airport. Has a shared bathroom.

“One Night in Nassau, Solo, on Foot”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 September 2009

I arrived at the Mignon in late afternoon after a long hike of several miles. Mary (Maria) and her husband hooked me up with a twin room. When I went to it, it was spotlessly clean , the beds made perfectly, and best of all the new A/C system cranked to 70. I turned on CNN to see if society had broken down, as I had not seen any news for a while.

There was a bathroom for men and one for women. Each has a very convenient design that allows several people to use them at the same time in complete privacy. Each has a separate toilet room and a separate shower room/dressing room, and there is also a sink and vanity so someone else can shave or brush their teeth. Brilliant!

The Mignon at 12 Market St. is one heck of a bargain, and just a few blocks from major landmarks such as the British Colonial Hilton and Government House. The Mignon will, in the future, be my base of operations for touring Nassau and New Providence. Keep on trucking!
