Very clean, price right for what I needed it .This place is not just for everyone you must be special :if you are Spoil, arrogant, not flexible and if you think that traveling is taking your home and comodities with you !!! and not family oriented you most go to the Atlantis" Mrs mary is a very nice hard worker old lady who tries very hard to make you feel safe and comfortable !!!! to be 85 years old and still run the place is admirable to me !!!!!! no credit cards just cash !!!! right !!! and I don't blame her for that !!! do you ??? she tries hard to make a dollar and safe as much as she can !!!!! I wish to be her age and be able to do and have my mind like she does !!!!!!! If you looking for a place to crash and spend a night cheap this is your place if not Don't even bother !!!

“Excellent place to stay!!! Better than any grand hotel.!!!”

I loved staying at the Mignon house. One of the reasons, is that I fell in love with Mrs Maria. She treated us like we were her own family. I would much rather stay here, than any of the finest hotels on the island. Mainly, because, of the personable treatment, and secondly, because it is soooo clean. We stayed there overnight, on our way to Cuba, then on the back end of our trip, we missed our flight, so we called Mrs. Maria up, and she welcomed us back with open arms. I can not tell you what a wonderful experience we had, by staying at the Mignon House. I felt very safe, and it was on Market Street, right where Straw Market is. I will definately be looking forward to staying with Mrs Maria and her husband again, on my next trip to Nassau. I would even spend a whole week there, or even two. Love ya, Mrs. Maria. It doesnt take a fancy hotel with glitz and glamour to make it a home away from home. I would much rather spend the night in your place, than any other $200.00 a night or Atlantis Hotel, any day!!!!! Cant wait for me and Isabel to come and see you again. Kathy.

“HORRIBLE PLACE”

This place is only good if you do not intend to pay for it with a credit card... They only accept cash... It looks like a dump. The lady is very nice... talks a lot... The husband is very grumpy. He is always calling her attention in front of the guests ... She tries her best to make you feel like you are at home, but when I arrived there and told them I had been robbed in Freeport and had no cash to pay except for my credit card, the husband told me to leave and go to a hotel because they only accept cash... What kind of business is this that does not accept credit cards ????? Very bad customer service... I would not recommend this place to anybody !!! You can get a much better customer service for a little more in a hotel and they do accept credit cards !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This review was out of character with the others and the explanation below is offered to give the owners view point: -

It is unquestionably unfortunate that the lady who wrote this review was robbed of a very large amount of cash on another Bahamian island before arriving at Mignon Guest House in Nassau.

Mary, the owner/manager, chatted sympathetically with her at some length regarding her bad experience before leaving to run an errand. Steve, Mary's husband, then attempted to check her in, discovering that she had no means of payment. Unable to help her, he advised her to go to another small hotel close by, where she could use her debit card. She became upset and he had to respond firmly to deal with the difficult situation. Apparently, she regarded not accepting credit/debit cards as bad customer service. Mary was very surprised to find that she had left the guest house upon her returned.

Mignon has operated for more then 40 Years without ever having accepted credit cards. They do accept travelers cheques and of course, cash. Guests who have neither can access the ATM machine, which is a very short walk away from the property. The hotel offers basic, clean and safe European Style accommodations in an convenient downtown location. It is very close to many good restaurants, a variety of shops and entertainment. Guests can use the common area where food can be prepared, cooked, stored and enjoyed on the small porch area where there is a table and chairs. Wifi is free and there are new TV's in all the rooms. Bottled water is free. All rooms are fully air conditioned and fan's are available if preferred.

Steve & Mary's reputation as owners/operators of their establishment is well known locally and internationally. The many reviews on the internet, in traveler information books and on this site all speak for themselves. They continue to welcome guests from around the world.

This guest house is located in the center of downtown. If you talk with owner you can get great price. Owners are friendly and very helpful. There only six rooms, but has good quality. Every room has fan, Tv and air-condition. If you stay there you can use kitchen, and prepare meals. Bathrooms and toilet are shared.

“Best place to stay in Nassau on a budget. Central location. Clean. Wonderful owners.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2010

My wife and I got a great deal on a flight to Nassau and stayed here for a week. We had a fantastic time. The Mignon Guest House was recommended to us by some great friends. It's by far the best value in Nassau for seasoned travelers on a budget. It's simple and modest, but impeccably clean and located right in the center of town on a quiet street where we felt safe. The guest house is run by a warm and friendly couple who made us feel right at home and bent over backwards to help us feel welcome. Mary, who cleans the rooms and replaces the towels daily, is wonderful - an absolute gem of a person. Even though the bathrooms are shared, the bedrooms are cozy and have new air conditioning units, free wifi and small flat screen tvs with cable - more than we needed for the price. Even though it's not glitz and glam, for $55 a night, it's safe, comfortable and a great value. We'd stay here again in a heart beat.
