“Unspoiled Natural setting”

Fantastic views from these hillside canvas cabins. Great stay for 1 week in January. St. John is a destination for nature lovers, and Concordia Eco-tents puts you right in the middle of it!The cabins are simple and comfortable with screens and a nice deck area for enjoying the terrific views of Salt Pond Bay and beyond. It is really glorified camping with good amenities. The showers are passive solar hot water, and very limited. we stayed in E-7 and although we had a good stay I would recommend staying in a different unit if possible. The shower system did not work as well as others (this is my second stay at Concordia) and we had some issues with branches from a tree scraping and banging on the roof. The maintenance staff eventualy trimmed the limbs back.We had some issues with mosqitoes inside our cabin. Our screens were compromised and the bugs found them quickly! The resort fixed them, but someof them were open again the next day! We think by a rodent , we saw evidnce but no actual sighting. If you are sensitive to bugs at night bring a mosquito net!

Room Tip: Avoid E7-E9 if possible.

“Beautiful views, great experience”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

We stayed 3 nights in mid December in a premium tent and the views were breathtaking. Tent was spacious and stocked with cooking supplies and a chest fridge/freezer. The restaurant was great, but was only open the first day we were there. Make sure you bring your own food as a back up, which we did for breakfast & lunches, but not for dinner 'cause we assumed the restaurant was open. The Tourist Trap at the end of the road is wonderful too! The water for our shower, which is heated in a solar barrel, was still cold every afternoon. Well, December is a very breezy month, which is nice to keep the bugs away, but is a nightmare to try to sleep. The tent flapped and rocked all night, so we didn't sleep much. Had no bug bits, we used an "OFF" clip-on fan and bug repellant wipes at night.
Day one we hung out at Drunk Bay and at the restaurant bar. Day two we rented snorkel gear from the front desk, hiked Ram Head in the morn and swimming/snorkeling at Saltpond Bay in the afternoon. Day three we hiked Lameshur Bay Trail to Reef Bay. A great place to stay for outdoor enthusiasts like us. We stayed the first 3 nights in Cruz Bay. Next time we will stay all nights in Cruz Bay and just make day trips to the east end of the island.

“Fine Camping”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

I read somewhere before arriving, the tents/cabins described as fine or upscale camping and I'd concur. Considering I have gone camping before, this was a step up. When my husband & I 1st arrived the office was closed. So we retrieved our checkin package from a box near the office door. Btw, how anyone stays here w/o renting a vehicle is unimaginable. Our tent was @the top of the hill & office,restaurant/bar, activities were 15min+ hike below. Also, to get around the island a jeep is necessary. Besides having to move rooms twice in 3 days, 1st due to a "sceduling conflict" then bc stray cat was inside our tent (hubby w/cat allergies) the stay was nice. 2 Comp drinks for the hassle :) Pricey amenties& food +need more vegetarian options! Good happy hr specials

“Concordia Eco Resort is AMAZING!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

We very much enjoyed our stay at environmentally aware Concordia. It is located on the east side of the island, which I prefer because it is much more quiet and away from the touristy part of the island. Nature is #1 in this area and we experienced a LOT of it! Deer, lizards, hermit crabs in the forest, huge stingrays during our snorkel, etc. There are also lots of mosquitos so I recommend having bug spray on hand. The nearest beach to swim and snorkel at is a mere 5 minutes away and is filled with wildlife. Patty and Wayne run a spectacular establishment at Concordia which includes exceptional service and immaculate suites. The cafe is a lot of fun, especially during open mic (on Mondays) with Benjamin on guitar and Larry on harmonica. The views over the bay are exquisite from all of the rooms and the sunsets here are no less than amazing. Leave your TV and computer needs behind and come here to experience paradise. I highly recommend Concordia - truly a DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH!

“Live, Laugh and SWIM !!!”

If you love to camp the eco-tents are definitely for you. We have stayed in the tents four times and each time it was great. If you are expecting to watch tv have ac or be on the cell alot go to a motel. The eco-tents are for the adventurous. We have stayed in the studio's, it was very nice, but prefer the eco-tents. So if you want to have a fun VACATION, leave the electronics at home and go snorkling or hiking. Go greener and enjoy :-) See you again in 2012 !!
