We stayed at the Cari-beana as an alternative to staying at one of the two resorts on St. John. The Villa is lovely, well screened (which is a big issue in the Carribean) and well stocked. It is also very clean.
If you climbed to the top of the stairs there is a small balcony from which you can see the stars.
There were a few negatives: the stairs in the main house are open and difficult. If you slip, you can really get hurt. There is one bedroom, one bathroom and the kitchen/living room on the first floor. The next level up is a room with two twin beds and an open (yes, I said open, as in NO DOOR) bathroom. If I had small children I would be concerned about them climbing the stairs. There is a lovely deck with plenty of room to barbeque and sun bathe. There is a 'plunge pool' which is really a very deep outdoor bathtub. It was cold and not very inviting so we didn't use it.
We liked the isolation and privacy of the Villa. There were people staying in an apartment downstairs and generally, they didn't bother us except for some screaming the first night.
The driveway is very very steep. However, once my husband mastered it, we had no problem.
In all, it was a lovely place and just as Cecelia described it. Well kept, clean, private. We highly recommend it.
