“Great place to stay in St. John”

We stayed in 8A, a lower-level Oceanview unit for a week.
- Beautiful view of the ocean / steps away from snorkeling, which is very good at the resort. We also snorkeled at Trunk Bay, Hawksnest, Honeymoon/Salomon Bay, and also in St. Thomas and we thought the snorkeling was best at Gallows Point. I don't think you can get a better snorkeling experience unless you rent a car and drive further out, or take a boat trip out somewhere. Do recommend renting a jeep for at least a day. We relied on taxis but it's inconvienent to go further than the popular beaches closer to Cruz Bay.
- Unit is well furnished. Sounds like most units have been renovated lately. Kitchen is very nice. We cooked most breakfast and some lunch. Food is expensive and dining option is somewhat limited given the size of the island. We took advantage of the nice amenities. Bathroom was huge and bedroom was also nice. TVs in both the living room and the bedroom. Also had a DVD player and radio/IPOD dock.
- We booked oceanview because we read some prior TA reviews about noise levels if you stay in the Harborview rooms. We only heard some music from the Beach Bar nearby on one night, and you will hear some noise during the day from the ferry/ships docking at Cruz bay. View is also beautiful so you can't go wrong with Harborview or Oceanview.
- Very quiet/intimate settings. No kids. A great place for couples.
- Location is great. Very close to cruz bay/close to ferry and all of the restaurants/bars. It's less than a 5 minute walk.
- Restaurants : Fishtrap, LimeInn had decent seafood. Liked the Beach Bar - good bar food and friendly atmosphere. Uncle Joe's BBQ is a good place to take-out chicken/ribs. We didn't get to try ZoZo's, which is the restaurant at Gallows Point. It is a bit more expensive, but the place was packed every night we were there.
- We definitely would return to Gallows Point. You can also check out the Westin, if you want the big resort experience and have kids. Caneel Bay is also very nice, but more expensive.

Room Tip: Lower number units are further away from the harbor, so it's quieter.

“Wonderful 2 Week Holiday At Gallows Point”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 December 2011

We booked unit 9A with the owner Richard with his company Suite St John. He has recently remodeled the unit with all new kitchen & bathroom (new granite countertops, cooktop, refrigerator, dishwasher, sinks); all new furniture in the living room, dining room & bedroom. Beautiful local artist paintings throughout. We loved unit 9A (patio, ground level). We watched humming birds, doves, rooster (very colorful) and hens. Mask, the cat, made our acquaintance almost immediately upon arriving (he probably new we had 2 kitties at home). Gallows Point is the perfect location if you don't feel comfortable driving on the left side of the road (which we didn't). The Everyting shop can call a taxi for you to meet you at the resort to take you to the many wonderful beaches or take a tour of the island. It is a 5 minute walk to town to browse shops, restaurants, catch the ferry to other Virgin Island locations (St Thomas USVI, Tortola BVI, Virgin Gorda BVI). One day, we took the ferry to St Thomas and enjoyed shopping at Charlotte Amelia and another day we took the ferry to Tortola (not much there, not even shopping). Both times we could not wait to get back to the peace and quiet of St John. If you do a little homework about the island St John, you will soon realize that there are very warm & friendly people who live here. You will do very well if you remember to say "Good morning (good afternoon, good evening), how are you? before anything else. Wish we had this custom at home. We really enjoyed the High Tide restaurant--the best Blackened Maui (Yum), huge & delicious hamburger--hubby enjoyed the conch fitters as well as the conch soup. The Grotto Deli at Mongoose Junction had a great & delicious menu. Well, I hope you decide to stay at Gallows Point--you will love it!

We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay at Gallows Point Resort. We are glad you enjoyed the renovations in 9A. We want all to know that we now have over 75% of our units renovated. They are gorgeous. Unlike many hotels with "cookie cutter" rooms where you cannot tell one from the other, at Gallows Point Resort each unit is unique. We look forward to you coming back to stay with us again.

“Beautiful Property”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2011

We just returned from three days at this beautiful resort. Our condo, 1a, seemed brand new. It was spotless. We enjoyed coffee on the oceanside deck each morning. Snorkeling was very nice and the pool area is great. This is a great honeymoon spot - quiet and private, yet still just a short walk to all the restaurants in town.

Room Tip: All rooms are great. Some do get strong afternoon sun on the fron deck.

“Wonderful vacation!”

Gallows Point Resort is the best place I have ever stayed. The location is great! It is walking distance to town - shopping, restaurants, bars, taxis, ferry. The condo was wonderful and clean. We had an upper unit. It was great to drink my coffee every morning on the balcony overlooking the Carribean and beautiful sunsets from this resort. The grounds are beautiful! There is a pool and different terraces with lounge chairs, table and chairs. There is access to the ocean to snorkel. There is a little gift store on site that carries necessities, gifts and the ladies there are very helpful in booking excursions. We had an amazing experience here and will definitely come back. Thank you.

We just returned from a week at Gallows Point Resort - Unit 6B. Our beautiful apartment faced the ocean, and we were able to watch a magnificent sunset every night just outside our back door. The resort is lovely - a short walk to all the shops and restaurants in town - a pool, hot tub, pier for some of the best snorkeling on the island, great restaurant and magnificent grounds that overlook Cruz Bay. The floor to ceiling windows were swung fully open each morning so we could hear the ocean and relax on the deck. Our unit was recently renovated and the contemporary kitchen had new appliances with granite countertops, a beautiful expanded and upgraded bathroom with a large tub and well appointed living room with gorgeous photographs of St. John.

The beaches are spectacular in St. John and we rented a car so we good explore the island. After two days of beaches, we decided that Gallows Point was the nicest place of all.

This was a fantastic trip for escaping reality and truly relaxing. We will be returning!

Room Tip: There are two sides of Gallows Point and I would recommend the ocean side. Our unit (6B) was on the...
