“A Good Option”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

If campgrounds, villas and expensive resorts don't excite you, the St John Inn might be a good choice. The rooms are modest and a little on the small side, but clean and comfortable. In St John terms the prices are reasonable. Rooms have TV's, AC and wireless connection is available on the deck. The price quoted includes all taxes, breakfast and sunset rum punch. Breakfast is coffee, juice, cereal and milk, bagels, bread and muffins. The sunset happy hour on the deck consists of rum punch or byob and good conversation. The staff and owner are very friendly and helpful. If you are a dog lover, there are three very freindly dogs to pat. The location is just out of the center of Cruz Bay and only a five minute walk to the ferry dock. If you are traveling light, it is an easy walk to the Inn from the dock up a slight grade. If you are carrying a lot you can get a cab at the dock. There is a local BBQ place (Candi's) at the end of the street that serves big portions of good food at a reasonable price. You can eat outside there and chat with the locals or take it back to the Inn and eat on the deck. If you have a room with kitchenette, there is a small fridge, microwave and one burner hotplate. There are two grocery stores nearby. We stayed four nights and had no complaints. We would definitely stay there again. Reserve early if going in peak season because they fill up fast. Same thing if you want to rent a car. When reserving a room ask the inn about the 10% discount on rental cars.

“Great location, provides all that you need to enjoy St. John”

Stayed for three days over the holidays before moving to a housenin coral bay. Staff was super friendly, including the owner David who was there the entire time. As other reviewers have said, new owners and working hard on constant improvement and upgrades. We loved the st john inn and have stayed at the westin many times before. Our take, would rather be here. Close to town so no taxis needed, walking distance to some great beaches if dont mind a short hike. St john inn provides breakfast, chairs, ice, coolers and happy hour. Need i say more? That is all you need to enjoy st john. If you are looking for a plush resort, then this is not for you. But if you want a simple, clean, friendly and safe space because you are out enjoying all that st john has to offer, then there is no better value to be found. We will be back.

“Great boutique hotel with friendly staff!”

If you are looking for a small boutique hotel conveniently located for your stay in Cruz Bay, look no further. ( If you want a Holiday Inn Express, move on.) Breakfast served outside every morning, nice deck area, wifi, rum punch served every evening. Rooms were comfy, AC was fine, wouldn't change a thing. Truly loved the experience and would go back.
It's easy walking distance to downtown for the evening. Rental car agencies are next door. We rented a Jeep for the day and the Inn supplied us with coolers and beach chairs.
The staff was just incredible and made us feel very welcome and comfortable.
We highly recommend it.

“Working on it”

Apparently new owners are working to refit a quirky property. Obviously converted from some other previous life.
Fully acceptable for younger guests; but, not terribly mobility friendly. Staff was very pleasant. Window air conditioners very noisy. Impressed by quality of replacement fixtures and workmanship.
Staff did not offer compensation when they were informed of rainwater dripping from ceiling onto bed.
Adorable dog on premesis.

Room Tip: Have a look first, if you can.

“Thankful for St John Inn!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

We stayed at the St John Inn over the Thanksgiving Holiday and we are "Thankful" for the St John Inn. What a wonderful find! The room was very quaint, the property well maintained, and the staff was just awesome. Our room was clean and very comfortable - we had everything we needed during our 4 night stay. The location was not only close enough to town to take a nice walk every morning but it provided a nice evening stroll for dinner. Additionally, there are two car rental services across the street which make it easy to pick up a jeep to run to the other side of the island. Every morning, the continental breakfast, towels, and beach chairs were waiting for our enjoyment. No review of the St. John Inn would be complete without mentioning Killer, the resident love puppy, I mean guard dog. Killer greeted us every morning and every evening when we returned from dinner - he filled in admirably for the two dogs we left behind and were missing. We visit St John several times a year and I have seen the St. John Inn advertised as a budget accommocation in the past but we never tried it becuase sometines "budget" means dump. This is far from the case at St John Inn, we actually found it more of a boutique option for the island and we highly recommend the Inn! Only one suggestion for the team at STJ Inn - the evening rum punch isnt a traditional rum punch, happy hour would be much more succedssful with a new recipe...

Room Tip: The rooms are very quaint. We stayed in Cruz 117, very bright and cheery, no rooms adjacent, very pr...
