“Loved it--Can't wait for next year!”

We stayed Jan 28 to Feb 4, 2012.
Hank and Karen run a great B&B. They are warm, funny and full of good information about St. John. While it is a ways outside of Cruz Bay, we found that to be a plus. The roads all over St. John are steep and winding (think carnival thrill ride), but unless you're willing to only go where the taxis go, you will have to experience them. We liked being where it was quiet and peaceful. The room (Captain's Quarters) was good sized and spotlessly clean. The outdoor shower provided a unique experience. The small fridge, microwave and Hank's grill allowed us to cook many of our own dinners and pack lunches for the beach. This saved us a lot of money. It also meant that we had several relaxing evenings to rest up for another amazing day of snorkeling and hiking. Karen and Hank go above and beyond in providing excellent service, i.e. lending us a cooler, providing beach chairs, a couple of beers, waters and soft drinks in the fridge when we arrived, sunscreen and bug spray, and many other touches that added to a great week.
We loved staying here. We have never repeated any of our vacations, but after day two we decided to return next January. Both Treetops and St. John are experiences that need to be repeated again and again.

Room Tip: We liked Starfish Market for our groceries. Don't hesitate to call or email Karen with questions...

“The Place to Stay on St. John!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

I stayed at Treetops for 9 nights and had one of the best vacations ever. Hank and Karen are wonderful, and staying at Treetops gives you an insiders view of the island. Not only are the accomadations as good as any hotel, Treetops is relatively inexpensive for St. John. I would 100% recommend staying there to anyone.

“Fantastic!”

My husband and I stayed in the First Mate's Head Quarters for 8 nights and it was wonderful! Tree Tops is lovely. Hank and Karen are wonderful hosts with breakfast every morning and always had helpful tips about the island. Our room was super clean, the bed was comfortable, and all of the rooms are very private.

The extra perk that you get at Tree Tops is to be able to enjoy the sound of the tree frogs at night while chillin' on the nice balcony in the evenings!

We enjoyed staying away from the busy-ness of Cruz Bay and the resorts in a home-type atmosphere. The trip into town is really quick. You'll need a rental car, but in my opinion, in order to really experience the island a rental car is necessary anyway.

Treetops is a top-notch bed and breadfast and is an excellent value!

Room Tip: We enjoyed the balcony and the openess of First Mate's Head Quarters.

“Treetops is tops”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2011

If you are looking for a relaxing, private and very picturesque spot to stay on the beautiful island of St. John, you need look no further than Treetops. In the evening you relax to the sounds of tree frogs and are awaken each morning with the chirping of birds. Hosts Karen and Hank are very welcoming and go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. They know all the great places to shop and eat as well as the best beaches to visit and the hikes and excursions to take. Karen leaves a welcoming snack for all guests and prepares a delicious breakfast daily. The Captain's Quarter, where we stayed for 7 days, has a living room with small kitchenette, bath and bedroom. The rooms are nicely decorated with a nautical theme are perfectly clean and very comfortable. Having the shower on the outside is useful when you arrive home covered in the fine sand of the beautiful beaches of St. John. For those who prefer to cook their own meals after a day at the beach or hiking, there is a grill available. The local supermarket has a variety of meat, fish and fresh vegetables that are delicious and require very little effort to prepare on the grill. If you want to get a real flavor of the island, then Treetops is a great place to stay. However, if you prefer to lie on the beach and have your drinks brought to you, then this would not be your best choice. We totally enjoyed our stay at Treetops and would recommend this B & B very highly for its charm, affordability, and location which gives much more privacy than in the middle of a "resort area."

Room Tip: If you want more space, choose the Captain's Quarter which had a living room with a small kitch...

“Exactly what we were looking for!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2011

We had an awesome stay at Treetops! Karen and Hank were so sweet. After several days in the very touristy St. Thomas, the seclusion of Treetops on St. John was exactly what we were looking for. The rooms are super cute. The large screened windows allow you to feel like you are sleeping in the wild without any bugs. The rooms are stocked with all sorts of fun amenities which was nice after long days hiking and boating. Karen also surprised us with some snacks and beer.
Karen was sweet to give us several maps and hiking recommendations. She also accommodated my gluten allergy which is so not expected at a B&B. We wish that we would have allowed more time for just chilling at Treetops. It is a great place to come with a group of friends or family and just BBQ and lounge in nature.

Highly recommended!
