Botanical Villas isn't completely horrible. I found the showers and bathrooms to be clean and stocked w/ soap & toilet paper. There isn't an indoor light in the bathrooms, though, which makes showering at night hard. One of the showers has horrible water pressure, but the other is fine. And, they at least have hot water (unlike the other local campgrounds). B.V. is very small and basically located on a cliff. My first day, I slipped & fell and cut both of my arms on the steps down to the bathrooms. Thankfully, the kitchen refrigerator was clean. The kitchen itself was full of unused junk, and I did see a couple of cock roaches. There is a covered up computer, but no internet access. Also, your cell phone probably won't work on the property (unless you pay roaming rates). I stayed in the enclosed platform bed. When I first saw it, I was pretty dismayed at the dingy mattress & pillow. But, once I got a clean sheet & towel and moved it, I actually liked it. The screen is attached on three sides. On the 4th side, I used rocks to hold the screen down. I did not have any problems with bug bites. I brought ear plugs, which helped. The sounds of the waves, bugs, birds & roosters can be really lovely (but loud!). I met one really bizzare woman on my first day, who seemed strung out on drugs. The rest of the people I spoke to were really nice. After my fall down the slippery stairs on the first day, I called Elsa to see about getting my money back. She was extremely horrible to talk to, insinuating that I was trying to cheat her out of money and that I was some sort of pansy who didn't know how to camp. Altogether, there were goods and bads to staying at B.V. I made the best of it, but I don't think I'd stay there again. I think I had the best enclosed platform bed. It was called "Mango" and was located on the other side of the kitchen.
