“We keep coming back for the weather and location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

We're Marriott owners in Hawaii and routinely trade for this property in January. It has location, beautiful facilities and weather!! But we are definitely noticing the new management that Marriott has handling their timeshares. We've just come to expect the very best of a Marriott stay and while it's still good, and we will still return, it's definitely not the same.
Room - not as clean, fingerprints on doors, bedding not up to their normal standard. Tried to swap out bathroom towels and was told it would cost $25 but we could exchange beach towels. OK Marriot - that means your guests will use the beach towels for bath towels - much larger and fluffier but I think that was not your intent.

Got wrong info from the front desk about times things were open downtown and wasted several hours. Service is not the usual Marriott standard either - maids lounging against the walls. Maintenance starting up vehicles under our windows at 6 am (for a long while). Slow service other places. Happy hour - glasses have shrunk - we did notice. When we asked for a little extra check out time got a firm 'no', in the past they've always tried to accommodate us at least an hour.

But it's still paradise when home is cold and snowy so we'll be back.

“Home away from home”

This was our second stay at the Marriott Frenchman's Cove this year. The cove is a timeshare property so it has a quieter vibe than the Marriott Reef next door. This is exactly what I like about it. You can't beat having a full kitchen and a washer/dryer to do all your dirty laundry. There is a beach, pool, bar/grill, and convenient store on site but you can always go next door for more bars, restaurants, etc. It seems as if there are beautiful views from every room at the Cove. Have a drink and watch the cruise ships pull off in the sunset....all from your balcony! The rooms are nice and well appointed and you really feel like you are at home! The beach is small and rocky but you can take the free shuttle next door to the Morningstar beach. Don't stay here for the beach or you might be disappointed. Rent a car and explore all the beautiful beaches of STT and the neighboring islands. Rita and Mike from the front desk provide top notch service, great advice, and attention to detail. We enjoyed some secluded beaches and great snorkeling from their advice. The propery is very hilly and you have to walk a bit to get to anything. Figure a short walk to get to the beach, food, gym, front desk, etc. You can always just wait for the shuttle if you don't want to walk. I really like the location of the Cove--perfect for exploring the island. Just a short drive from Charlotte Amalie, Havensight, and Yacht Haven. We can't wait to go back!

“Nice Property”

The rooms are large, clean and comfortable. Standard Marriott timeshare rooms. The beach is rocky and the pool area small. You keep hearing that Marriott is going to clean up the beach and move some of the rocks, but I truly don't believe that is going to happen. No town to speak of, restaurants were consistently good. We never had any problem with the staff or service at the resort. Didn't have a bug problem.

The best part of St. Thomas is the side trips this destination allows you to take. St. John's is incredible. Jost Van Dyke fun, guaranteed to see marine life on the snorkling trips. It seems in skimming the posts that everyone was happy with their side trips so it appears you can't go wrong with whichever one you book and these trips make the vacation memorable.

“Paradise ..... With bugs!”

I would rate this property as being very clean, modern, and convinent. However, allow me to forewarn you! The http://www.travelvi.com/us-virgin-islands/virgin-islands-sand-fleas-and-flies/virgin-islands-sand-fleas-and-flies.html are horrible. No one warned us about these insects, and needless to say that our bites have consumed our vacation. I have over 80 and my husband has over 125 bites. We are miserable and can't wait to get off this island. We are covered from neck to toe! Also, the service from the front desk to the store to the bar/restrauant is less than desirable. They could really careless if we were there or not....
Would we come back? Yes, but next time we will know what to expect, and I believe the management should be a little more concerned with the lack of client/customer services in my opinion. If nothing else, put a smile on your face and pretend to like the fact that we are here spending our hard earned money......

Room Tip: St John requires 3 elevators to get to the pool/bar/restraurant area.

“Wonderful Vacation”

We just returned from our stay at Marriotts Frenchmens Cove. The rooms were very clean, and modern with fabulous views. The pool was very nice with plenty of chairs, water slide for the kids, volleyball net, and daily activites for kids and adults. Yes there are iguanas on the property around the pool and beach areas. These critters were fun to watch and we never at any time saw a problem with anyone during our stay. I had read on here prior to our visit that they had been attacked by them. Well with any animal, if you are feeding it, it will come after you for more. No one was feeding them and they were not an issue during our stay. Love the covered parking garages. Beach is small but pretty, and there was plenty of room for everyone and free use of chairs and umbrellas. Would definately return to this hotel.

Room Tip: We stayed in the St. Johns building on the 4th floor. Beautiful views from every angle.
