After reading some of the negative reviews, I thought I'd put in my two cents. My husband and I have stayed here twice on the way to St. John. Both times we rented the cheaper rooms (interior, downstairs, with private bathroom). The first time we stayed at the galleon house, I was a little surprised by the room when I first saw it. After I adjusted and considered the price and location, I was very happy with my decision to stay here.

The bad: lots of stairs (this didn't bother us at all), cheaper rooms are a bit small and need to be updated

The good: the staff is very friendly and helpful, the common area and pool is very comfortable, breakfast is awesome, the landscaping and views are really nice, and again: crazy low price and great location.

I doubt there is a better deal anywhere in the VI.

We recently spent 6 nights at the Galleon House in USVI. We found the staff very friendly and helpful. The place is run by Chris and Patricia and they were usually there from 7:30am serving a very hearty breakfast before we went off for the day sightseeing. Everything we tried was very good and there was loads of hot coffee to wash it down. I can't fault the central location but beware of the steps from the street to the front desk. We are very fit travellers and it was a struggle to carry 2 suitcases from the taxi. Having said that it was worth it once we'd been given our room. We opted for a more expensive bay view room and were more than pleased with it.
Should we ever return to St Thomas I'm sure we'd opt to stay here again.

My wife and I visited St Thomas in November. I found the hotel on the internet and the price
sold us right away. We were pleasantly suprised with the entire package as soon as we arrived. The view, breakfast, cleanliness and hospitality are worth way more than they charge.
I would not only stay there again, I'd live there if I could. A great Deal!

As other reviewers have said, this is not the Ritz. With the long climb upstairs, this also isn't for everybody. But we stayed here twice within a week (both at the front and back ends of a St. John trip) and we had clean, comfortable rooms both times.

We were in 103, which had a nice harbor view, and 104, which had the best view and an extremely comfortable bed -- I highly recommend this room if you can get it.

Perhaps the single best thing about the Galleon House is the way the owners and their staff take care of you. Chris, Trish, Doug and Heather couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. The breakfast was pretty sweet, too!
