Imagine getting off the plane in St. Thomas at 3:30 in the afternoon and swimming in the ocean by 4:30, enjoying a rum punch and a Caribbean sunset. Picture the sunrise over the sea waking you every morning in your comfortable tent-cottage, and cooking your meals in an open-air pavilion overlooking the turquoise water. In between all that, see perfect weather, white sand beaches 5 minutes away, and a whole island to explore by bike or foot.

Water Island Campground is perfect for those who are looking for something a little off the beaten path, away from the hustle and bustle of St. Thomas, but still a tranquil setting, rustic-comfortable accommodations, and kind hospitality. A little adventure - but a LOT of relaxation and unbelievable scenery.

We chose this place on the advice of other Tripadvisor reviewers and what everyone has to say is true. We already are planning our next trip back to the Virgin Islands Campground! We can't say enough wonderful things about Deb and Paul's Campground.

My boyfriend and I selected the Virgin Island Campgrounds for a less touristy vacation. It was just that. We had fun exploring the island, and Debbie and Paul, the owners, made helpful suggestions on places to visit. We spent the majority of our time on Honeymoon Beach, just a five-minute walk from the Campground, where there is excellent snorkeling, silky-white sand and some fun locals to entertain you! Not to mention, the best painkiller we've ever had...

The Campground provided upscale camping- including a shared bathhouse equipped with clean toilets, sinks and showers, an outdoor pavilion to do your cooking, and most importantly, a BEAUTIFUL VIEW to soak up every day you are there! The bonus of this Campground is that it's Eco-Friendly- they use cisterns to collect water, windmills and solar panels to generate power and not-so-offensive composting toilets to sustain traffic from the campers.

I recommend the Virgin Island Campgrounds to those who are looking for a unique vacation away from the hustle and bustle of St. Thomas. It's comforting to know, however, that if you're feeling the need for a bit more action, St. Thomas is just a five-minute ferry ride away!

Like other reviewers have said, PARADISE is the only way to describe my stay at the Virgin Islands Campground. My roomy and clean cabin looked out over the island's tree-tops and a beautiful ocean view. Water Island, the location of the campgrounds, is an easy ferry ride to the lively St. Thomas, where there is great shopping, restaurants, bars, etc. I feel that, staying here, we just really got the best of everything--incredible views, relaxing privacy, close proximity and easy travel to mainland shopping/restaurants/bars, fun snorkeling spots, friendly locals, sandy beaches. I was worried about camping since I couldn't bring "gear" on my plane flight down, but the owners have thought of everything--comfortable beds, screened-in cabins with optional window covers, clean sheets and towels, our own balcony, a public seating area with grill, refrigerator, and more. I can't imagine anyone being discontent with this little piece of paradise!

This is truly a Paradise Adventure and great for all ages; privacy, super clean, and beautiful beaches, views, and accomodations. My daughter even wants to get married here!!!!! Great experience for all ages. Can't wait to come back for the wedding.....
