We booked through expedia, it said there were King beds, but the biggest was a queen, the condo does need up dating, but if you are looking for a base and have a family this if okay. There is no entertainment at this resort, but the beach was safe for the kids and they loved the pool, cats and lizards. Mozzies are rife here so stock up on spray.
Everytime there was a storm or it get windy the tv stopped working, so if you have kids bring some dvd's for them to watch.
Aurther's was really nice, the owners were lovely, the food was outstanding!!
Found the cost of food expensive, so it's worth bringiong bits from home. Don't go food shopping at market in Red Hook, really over priced. Go the the Super Market at tutu, this is where the locals shop and the prices are so much better, red hook market charge $7.99 for a gallon of milk, plaza at tutu was $4.99 a gall. There is a Kmart next to this store at tutu mall and this is a good place to buy sun lotions, hats, beach toys for kids and postcard ect.
Duffy's love shack, Red Hook a great place to eat with kids we had 3 kids with us 10, 11 & 16. Also the Caribean night (Wed) at Bongo bay, the kids loved this, you pay a set fee and this includes food and entertainment. Corky beach fantastic, Megan's bay post card perfect, life guards are on this beach, great beach for kids. We went to sugar bay resort, free use of sun chairs, small fee to hire boats and take part in other water sports, jet sking ect. Kids loved it here, lots of hand feeding the fish.
Really inportant note is to rent a car, this is a must, thetaxi's are well over priced and a car is a must to explore the island. Book the car on line before leaving.
Charlotte Am. duty free shopping, Glady's restaurant was wonderful, Caribean food, really friendly ex. service. Shopping , well not that great unless you want to buy diamonds.
Always check the This Week paper ( you can pick one up from the Air port) Check the dates of the Cruise ship arrivals and avoid Megan's bay, shopping and any other big tourist outing when the ships are in.
Remember to always say Good morning or good evening to the locals, they don't like hi or hello. You drive on the left. Try all the beaches, this is a beach holiday. Do try St.John by ferry, but leave the car, you could wait for hours to ferry across with the car and they won't guarentee your cars safty.
We had a two week holiday to remember, the people were friendly, the food fantastic, try the yellow snapper cooked in Banana leaves Red Hook.
Most beaches sell food, it was to hot for a picnic, they have pizza, wraps, burgers, hot dogs, sandwhiches ect, and a big frozen drink helps wash it down.
Have fun and go with the flow!!
