Spent 7 days here with immediate family (3 "kids" 16, 19, 23). A little confusion initially because we had to check in at Sapphire Bay resorts, but actually ran into the property maintenance man, who was really nice and offered his cell # in case we had any issues. The property was quiet and private -- clean kitchen, living room, bedrooms, bathrooms. Watched much of the olympics on the TV set. Balcony looking into the bay. A couple negatives: low-quality towels, mosquitoes(!), and condensation of water on the floors (because of the AC we think), which was a slip hazard. Theres a supermarket down if you make a left on the main road with a wide selection, but food in general is very expensive (but liquor is cheap!), where we got most of the supplies to cook dinners.
Didn't have much interaction w/ neighbors. There aren't many people on the small beach, but there are chairs. The beach is shared with a yacht club, so theres tons of boats parked in there. Not the most wonderful beach, but not crowded.
So we used this as an inexpensive base to explore the rest of the Virgin Islands, and since it is so close to Red Hook, it is easy to get anywhere. Highly recommend a rental car. Spent 2 days on St. John, and also took a charter boat to visit the British Virgin Islands.
Overall not luxurious, but homely, simple, adequate, and a good value for parties willing to explore rather than sit on a beach for a week.
