“great”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

i'm edward from NY and am very picky. we just stayed at Reef for a week. family of 5 with 2 adults and 3 kids ages 13, 11 and 9. place was great. low key, but very clean and comfortable. right near the beach and walk to beach is easy. beach itself is beautiful and they made sure our beach chairs were set up when we arrived every day. stayed in the 3brm second fl. condo. personnell were excellent, especially Vern, Jaya, Nuwan and Honel. They took care of us and made sure we were ok. the rooms were cleaned daily and the furnised apt and stocked kitchen were a great convenience. overall, i highly recommend staying here for a comfortable family holiday without all the hoopla.

“Good value but stay away from room 5101”

You've read the other reviews so you know this is a well priced option in close proximity to the beach. You can spend alot more to have ocean views with your coffee, or you can spend much less and walk 1 minute and be to the ocean. The Reef Residences (RR) are in a great location, close to restaurants and the snorkeling reef on Grace Bay. My review is to make sure you avoid room #5101, our room for 9 days. This room is located next to the neighboring WIndsong Resorts and their fire pump room and septic tank room. During the first 4 days of our visit, a septic truck showed at 745am followed by a man with a power washer, spraying for 9 hours a day. We couldn't enjoy coffee and breakfast on the patio due to the noise. After 4 days, i left a note for management, who called the Windsong and found they had a problem with their septic tank and it was unfortunate that it occurred during our stay. No compensation was offered by RR. Our 1 BR/2 Bath condo was clean and housekeeping was great. They sell $4.00 Coronas and Coors Light in the office, which is cheaper than at the bars. The pool tasted like chlorine, so we didn't go in after the first dip. The kitchen had basic but no comforts of home. Our room had no shades in the foyer; anyone walking by could see in to our bathroom and bedroom. There were no blankets and one end of the couch was shot. There were not enough umbrellas on the beach but there were plenty of chairs. We had a pretty bad rain storm one night and our foyer flooded inside. I'm still giving RR 4 stars because despite my unpleasant experience, RR offers a great value when you look at what the other resorts and larger buildings are charging. Just make sure you don't get room #5101 and stay away from the side that abuts the Windsong.

Room Tip: Stay away from 5101 and the side of RR that abuts the Windsong

“A great value just steps away from the beach.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

Amazing location steps away from the beach and Bight Reef. Units are well appointed with modern and tidy kitchens.

Prior posts mentioned the lack of beach chairs; however, it looks like they have added quite a few, where we were able to get chairs almost everyday (with the exception of 1 day) during our week long stay at the busiest time of year. This may also be attributed to the fact that we didn't roll down until around noon each day. Outside of the busy holiday week, it shouldn't be a problem.

No ocean views, but it encourages you to get out onto the beach. Somewhere Cafe is a few sandy steps away and makes for a quick and relaxing beer or snack while getting your beach on. The main town area is a short drive away, running about $15 taxi ride each way.

Modern, clean, and steps away from an amazing beach. You can't go wrong.

“Absolutely Delightful!”

We were so impressed from the moment we arrived. There were five of us (including a 16 month old). We rented two condos which worked out perfectly. Management was wonderful to us in every way - provided a crib, high chair etc. Everything was conducive to a peaceful, delightful vacation..... It was quiet. It was clean. Rooms were spacious. Management was there for any questions. Flowers/pool area was so well kept. We were directed to lovely beaches and great restaurants. Kitchenette has just about anything you may need. Great to cook breakfast and or lunch in the condo and then out to dinner for local cuisine. Who could ask for more?! If you are looking for a laid back, serene environment this would be it! Perfect for young and old alike just be sure to pack the sunscreen. We purchased a small beach umbrella for the baby which worked out well.

“Not amazing but a good choice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 April 2011

When we first arrived to Reef Residence we weren't overwhelmed with the facilities, hospitality, etc but as we checked around to the places we "almost stayed" we were glad we had made the decision we had. It was nothing fancy but the rooms were large and clean and stocked pretty well with most everything we needed. It was super convenient to the beach and to snorkeling but would disagree with some earlier reviews saying you don't need a car. Unless you plan on cooking every meal in your place or eating at Somewhere Cafe for every meal, you will need a car. Otherwise taxis charge per person and it really adds up.

It was nice to have a pool but as a recent review said, it did not look very well kept or clean. The water was murky and just not too appealing. And regarding the same review about the umbrellas on the beach, we shared the same sentiment. There were not enough umbrellas and it was the same people every day who had the umbrellas and the real problem was that people would get up early each morning and save a line of 8 chairs with umbrellas. We'd arrive at 8AM on the beach to chairs with towels but no people and two hours later there was still no-one actually using them...just saving them. It was frustrating and non considerate. Where as in actuality, if everyone had been considerate and only occupied the chairs and umbrellas when they were actually using them, rather than saving them for the day, it probably would have worked out for everyone. The other negative for us was the size of the pool compared to the number of kids. We like kids and feel that the kids had a right to enjoy the pool as well, but bc of the size, when the kids were enjoying the pool, splashing, yelling, etc, we really couldn't enjoy it but waited for the kids to leave so we could peacefully swim or float around (impossible otherwise).

All in all we would stay there again as we just can't see the value of paying so much more for a large resort. It was quiet at night, safe, rooms were cleaned nicely each day.
