“Terrific Location”

The facility had an excellent beach and pool; the staff were helpful and friendly. The decor is a bit dated, but does that really matter? The room was clean and well maintained, as were the all of public areas. The loaner bikes, tennis courts and small fitness center are nice touches, which you don't often find at Caribbean resorts. The restaurant was no great shakes, but there are better places to eat within walking distance all up and down the beach so I don't see that as a real drawback. Be warned when visiting TCI that everything is super-expensive. Even buying groceries at the supermarket to save money on meals doesn't help that much (though it does a bit--so kitchenette in our unit, though small, was useful). But I found we had to drop at least $40 on lunches and at least $120 on dinners, no matter where we went.

Room Tip: save money on room and skip those with "ocean view." some have better views than others...

“Relaxing resort!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

My boyfriend and I stayed at OCW from Jan. 28, 2012 to Feb. 4, 2012, and we had a wonderful time. As way of background, we are both in our mid-thirties and have done all inclusive vacations as well as a cruise in the past. This was our first time to Turks & Caicos, but it certainly won’t be our last. This was the best vacation we have taken yet.

We arrived at the resort around 12 pm, but we knew that check in was not until 4 pm. The front desk stored our luggage and we walked around to explore the resort and the surrounding area. Our condo was ready early at 3pm, which was great. They upgraded us, free of charge, from a Junior Suite to a 1 Bedroom. We stayed in Unit #523, which was a 1 bedroom condo located on the 2nd floor. The condo was fabulous and had everything we could possibly need (all kitchen stuff, full size refrigerator, a dishwasher, stove, blender, coffee maker, utensils, washer & dryer, etc). They also provided dish soap, dishwasher detergent, and clothes detergent. Really, everything we needed - - including the most important kitchen gadget, the wine opener.

We didn’t rent a car and found that we didn’t need to as there were so many good restaurants within walking distance (keeping in mind, we are active and don’t mind a longer walk). The Graceway supermarket was very close (about a 5 min. walk) and the front desk at OCW has a handy cart you can borrow to bring your groceries back. We purchased breakfast food, snacks, beer and wine. We ate breakfasts and lunch in our condo, then went out to a nice restaurant each night for dinner.

For us, the best part about the condo was the screened in decks. Our condo had 2 decks (one off the front, facing the pool, and one in the rear off of the back bedroom.) We left both doors open and there was an amazing cross breeze through the entire condo. We sat out on our front deck each night, relaxing with wine and enjoying the quiet resort. The pool is lighted at night and you could hear the ocean waves from our condo. It was so great.

The resort services were great too - housekeeping came each day and cleaned and left towels. They would even run the dishwasher and put everything away afterwards, which was so great. The beach is awesome – soft sand, waiter/waitress service for drinks, and clear water. We never had a problem finding chairs and an umbrella on the beach, even when we slept in late. Overall, Grace Bay is a gorgeous beach. We had no complaints.

We ate at the Seaside Café for 2 meals (lunch when we got there, and then dinner one night when we were too tired to go off the resort property.) The food was good, although service is a bit slow, but hey, everyone’s on island time. We also ate (and highly recommend) Bay Bistro, CoCo Bistro and Mango Reef. Each of these places were great, though our favorite hands down was Bay Bistro, where we sat out on the beach and had a wonderful meal with great service.

We also walked down the beach one day to the original Ocean Club resort to check out the Cabana Bar. We had some awesome frozen drinks there and the jerk chicken wings were worth the walk!

We will definitely return to Ocean Club West for our next Caribbean vacation. It's not a resort for those looking for a big party scene. But if you are looking for a relaxing vacation, it's a wonderful resort.

Just returned home, loved our stay at OCW, stayed in a junior suite, 3rd floor, booked thru resort. The suite was extremely nice, 2 bathrooms, roomy living kitchen area, but most of all loved the screened in veranda, we loved looking out at the ocean. The full kitchen allowed us to have breakfast and lunch in the room, we were within walking distance to Graceway grocery store. Also within walking distance to many restuarants and shopping at salt mills and regent. Cant say enough about the beach, best beach I have ever seen, loved the water and the layed back feel. I would go back again in a heart beat.

“Ocean Club West - Great Relaxing Resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

My husband and i stayed at Ocean Club West from January 8 - 13, 2012. We stayed in a first floor suite with a screened patio entrance near the pool. The suite that we stayed in was a privately owned condo and it was wonderful. This is a very nice resort. The grounds are beautiful and the entire resort is extremely well maintained. There was always a lot of very pleasant staff around pampering everything. The pool area is gorgeous and very well maintained. Lounge chairs, tables and umbrellas near the pool and on the beach are abdundant and in excellent condition. There are plenty of pool/beach towels available. The resort's pool and beach area are cleaned and the lounges organized every evening, and when you get up in the morning you find plenty of towels placed on the lounges for your use. Our first floor unit was within steps to the pool and just a few more steps to the beach. The resort has a beach bar/restaurant that served very good food and drinks. We had breakfast there a few days, as well as lunch. (We did not eat all of our meals out). We certainly had tropical drinks and beer too. The beach at Ocean Club West was pristine, and the water was crystal clear. This was an extremely relaxing vacation, much of which can be attributed to the atmosphere at Ocean Club West. I would not hesitate to stay here again and would recommend this resort to Provo vacationers.

Room Tip: I rented through a private owner using vrbo.com, and was extremely pleased with the quality of the s...

“We got what we paid for!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

We booked this trip because we found a very good deal online. However I was thinking this was a 4 star hotel- but it was more like a 3 star. We were in a studio with a kitchenette which was useful and had a partial ocean view. Overall it was def worth the price we paid but I expected the hotel to be nicer!
