“Hated to Leave”

We recently stayed at Point Grace for six nights and had a wonderful time. I agree with all the positive comments that have been posted previously.

The resort is very quiet, which was much to our liking. We stayed in a cottage suite/pool level and thought it was charming, with lots of room for two people and nice appointments. The bed was very comfortable and we really enjoyed the patio. The unit had a full kitchen, which we thought we would use, but wound up eating all our meals out. The restaurants (both on and off the property) were too good to pass up. There was also a washer/dryer in the unit. While we didn’t use it, it was a comfort to know it was so readily available if we did need it.

The staff at the resort was excellent. I understand that many of the people who work at Point Grace have been there for years. They all made us feel very welcome. Everyone was very pleasant, accommodating, and reliable. All of our requests were graciously fulfilled. The people at the front desk made excellent recommendations for restaurants and activities and made all reservations for us.

Quite a few amenities were included in the price of our room, including transportation to/from the airport and golf course. A very nice extended continental breakfast was also included, with lots of personal service. There was also a cocktail hour, which we took advantage of almost every evening.

Equipment for water activities was provided. This was the only area where we had some problems. We used the two-man kayak, but the rudder on it was broken, so it was difficult to steer in the waves and wind. We also borrowed one mask and snorkel. The mask was fine, but the snorkel leaked through the mouthpiece.

We took long walks on the beach and decided that, if one likes peace and quiet, Point Grace has the best location.

stayed 8 nights in jan '12 in cottage. best location on the beach. walk to many things. room was beautiful, full kitchen, seperate dining area and living room, big patio, seperate bedroom, big bath with shower, tub and two sinks. breakfast included was excellent (although no skim milk--they did have 2% on request). service great including tara and richard at breakfast, pete at the bar, tiffany at front desk and all housekeeping. drinks and hodos at 5pm a nice touch. sorbet and fruit kabobs both refreshing, bottled water included. bikes available for free with no time limit. overall, excellent.
some small things--occasional musty smell in room-maybe after being mopped--not horrible. beach service spotty (although pool service great) and no work out facility on site, but within walking distance.
and the spa/massage was excellent--open air (but private) beach view cabanas--very nice.

overall a great stay.

Room Tip: ocean fron rooms have great views but cottages are more charming and fully furnished/equiped down to...

“Spectacular!”

From the moment we arrived, the staff was not only accommodating, but gracious, making sure to meet our every need with a smile.

The hotel grounds are gorgeous, landscaped beautifully. Our cottage was very well appointed and had a lovely view of the pool area. The location of the hotel is superb...in walking distance to the shopping area and restaurants.

I made our reservation by telephone. Beverly was able to offer us a cottage on very short notice. She was understanding of our predicament and sensitive to our needs.

Mary, the Front Desk Manager, was extremely gracious. On arrival, she sent us to breakfast while having our cottage made ready. She then took us on a walk through Point Grace, pointing out Grace's Cottage, introducing us the lovely Spa, pool/bar and beach area. She took us to our fabulous cottage (202), asked if we needed dinner reservations and made it clear that she was available to answer any questions and help with any and all activity arrangements. Throughout our stay, we relied on Mary's recommendations. We asked for bikes, they appeared in seconds. We needed a taxi, one was called immediately. There was nothing Mary wouldn't do to help...and all with a great big smile.

Santhonax (Santo as we liked to call him) was fabulous as well. The beach was immaculate, umbrellas open and towels waiting on chaise lounge chairs. We asked to borrow snorkel equipment, Santo provided it. We wanted to sail the Hobie, Santo set it up time and time again. He was attentive, hardworking and very pleasant. He too worked with a smile on his face, was always available and willing.

Some other folks we'd like to mention. Richard and Tara were pleasant company at Hutchings. Pete at the pool bar was also friendly and bent over backwards to be of assistance. Isheka went out of her way to help with beachfront snorkeling information. And, Johnathon too, was a friendly face with a willing attitude.

These people all helped to make our stay a delight. We enjoyed the intimacy of the resort, the privacy we were afforded, the friendly faces, the “can do” attitudes and all those smiles! The staff at Point Grace goes above and beyond in every way imaginable. Everything is possible, every question has an answer, every problem a solution. In short, no task is too tall for these folks. They are exceptional people, working hard and succeeding in helping to create memorable vacations...all with an air of professionalism.

We can't wait to visit again!

Room Tip: I'm sure every room is fantastic.

“Beautiful resort and beach”

Our family including our three kids (22, 18, and 18) thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our 2 bedroom suite had an amazing beach view and was quite spacious (beware - a cot will not fit in the 2nd bedroom and the pullout sofa in the living room is fine if bright sun doesn't bother you). We had been concerned that the kids would find the resort too quiet but they loved how relaxing it was. The staff was very helpful. The 5:00 happy hours were a nice end to the beach day right after the sunset. The breakfast buffet was simple but good and the lunch menu was varied and quite good. The beach was incredible and actually felt private - the sand was soft and white and the water crystal clear.

Room Tip: We were in the east building and 2 nights we could here music all night long. The first night we th...

“Do not patronize Point Grace. They are unscrupulous.”

DO NOT STAY HERE! The management of Point Grace is terrible. We stayed for 4 days over New Years, and they tried to say that we had booked for an extra 2 days beyond our trip. We told them as soon as we checked in about their error, and they assured us they would change it. However, after we left they called and said they were charging our card for the extra days anyway. We tried patiently to explain the situation many times, but they kept interrupting and basically told us they didn't care and they were going to charge us for those days, even though they made the reservation error. In addition to that, they then charged us a higher rate for those 2 days! We are currently disputing this via American Express, but should that be necessary? I am so disappointed in this terrible business decision. There are 20 resorts on Grace Bay. Don't stay at one that tries to steal from their guests!

It is unfortunate that the guest feels this way and if we were wrong in the way this situation was handled, I do offer our sincere apologies to the guests. That said, the reservation was made via telephone and the dates given were arrival on12/28, departing on 1/03; the rate quoted was the listed rate for the suite and the credit card information was taken. On 12/14 an email was sent to the guest with the dates booked, the required deposit (payment in full at the time, because of the cancellation policy) and we asked for the expiration date of the credit card because we then noticed that it was not on the guest's record. After a second email, the guest finally called in with the expiration date of the credit card and the card was charged for the full amount of the stay on 12/22. At no time was the departure date or the rate challenged. They checked in on 12/28 and noted they would not be spending the night of 1/02 with us and whilst we were within our rights to charge them for that night, we adjusted their departure date from Jan 3 to Jan 2 without penalty. On Dec. 30th, after our driver had left the property, with no prior warning, the guests showed up at the Front Desk asking for an airport transfer because they had a flight to catch and they needed to check out. Our Guest Services Manager took one of our vehicles and drove them to the airport in order for them to catch their flight. It was explained to them that they would be charged for the other nights based upon our cancellation policy. Had this happen at any other property on Grace Bay, they would have had to pay for the night of December 30th and Jan 1st as the cancellation policy also applies to "early departure". Instead of charging them, we refunded their card. Are we unscrupulous?
