My party of 6 stayed in a Villa called Casa La Vista on the compound of Sanctuary Villa Resort. This was not originally the villa we were placed in (Villa Eleanor) but we had to move due to the arrangement of one of the bedrooms that had two twin beds which were suited to young children versus adults that were going to use the room. I was quite disappointed that this was the case as I specified 6 adults that were to be accommodated. Only to find out when I arrived that the villa was prearranged for the party that just left and not rearranged for our party of adults. This was the first disappointment that cost us more than 2 1/2 hours on our first day. The manager Marilyn Jordan, who was very professional and accomodating upgraded us to a new villa as a result, Casa La Vista. We were very pleased with this villa and would recommend that people ask for it by name when booking. It is a seperate villa on an incline that is well furnished, good appliances (Washer, Dryer, Dishwasher etc..), spacious bedrooms and master bedroom, each with a beautiful view of the Caribbean sea. From the two bedrooms with double beds, the guest can clearly see the nylon pool from their balcony, which is breathtaking. The pool is also family size and not too deep. All in all a beautiful place. My only problem with it were some maintenance issues with the A/C which seemed to need a cleaning as it caused allergic reactions by my partner and a friend and there were alot of bugs throughout the villa and it was clear that the place could benefit from a thorough fumigation.
This was a 3 night, 4 day visit, therefore when the second day came and we were without water for 5 hours, this really got us angry. We had just come back from the beach and had to be uncomfortable till after 9 that night when a private contractor came to deliver water. This was unacceptable. What was worse was the treatment we received when told about the water situation as we were expected to sit there and just wait..that ruined the plans for our evening. It would have been greatly appreciated if the manager Marilyn would have offerred us a free villa where we could have at least showered in the meantime until water came. This was not done and made our party feel that our business and comfort were not a top priority despite previous verbalizations. Advice to future travellers using this villa, and a problem comes up, Sanctuary does not own this villa, Island Investments manages it and in our experience we unfortunately were placed in the middle of a management feud that we had no right being a part of, a blame game of sorts. This was not our problem, but became our problem as we had to deal with the two entities. You can see from the manangement end, there is real room for improvement. The feeling I was left with was that this is a beautiful place that I would like to visit again, but I am reluctant to, because despite the accommodation and view I cannot guarantee my friends or myself that my vacation will not be compromised due to management issues.
