We visited Sugar Mill Suites and the condo and the grounds were awesome! The pools were small and uncrowded, however the beach was. . .well, undesirable. Trash washes up on the beach and I couldn't bring myself to get into the water. Many of the beaches in Tobago are less than pristine. My advice is that if you have to go there, prepare yourself for for a rude awakwning. There are only a few gas stations and gas was scarce, stations often ran out of fuel. The island is very depressed and the living conditions of the residents are enough to ruin a vacation. The resort staff had very limited suggestions for dining out, but were helpful to point out the best choices. We attempted to buy groceries for our full service kitchen, but we went to several stores before we found acceptable groceries. There was not much choice and I was glad I packed some food in my suitcase. If your a true naturalist this may be the place for you, we did see beautiful places and things. If you are like me and are used to American lifestyles, you will be in culture shock. From the other hotels we saw while we were there, I'd say we made the best choice. The beaches on the other side of the island were much prettier. You have to have a car anyway so you can drive to a better beach. Hope this helps!
