“Heaven on Earth”

I'd never been anywhere near Tobago before, so I went in knowing that I knew nothing. I'm only 26 years old but I try to travel as often as possible, and because of this I've been quite a few places, including Hawaii, many parts of Mexico, and yes, even to the luxurious slice of paradise known as Arkansas. All joking aside, Tobago -- specifically where I stayed with Mom and Pop -- was by far the best place I've ever been, and I struggle to see how it could possibly be surpassed. It was Heaven on Earth. I couldn't imagine a more gorgeous place to stay. So peaceful, so beautiful, such nice people to be among. I honestly never wanted to leave. I'm just trying to figure out how I can make enough money to retire there in the next year or so. The food prepared by Mom was absolutely delectable. The weather was perfect, and if ever it felt too hot, there was always a convenient pool to dive into. The view had to be the best part, though it's hard to choose a best part when everything feels like a dream that you never want to wake from. The view is 360 degrees. Green everywhere: plants, trees, we even saw a green frog. The view of the water is calming, you can see fishing boats go by every now and then. Everywhere you look you can get lost in and stare for literally hours. There's hammocks around the deck if you feel like relaxing to a good book or taking a nap. I guess what I'm trying to say is, if you're thinking about going, don't think any longer. It's something you'll never forget as long as you shall live. It's beauty that you've never laid eyes on. It's serenity that you've never experienced. Bottom line: it's the best. Thanks to Mom and Pop, two of the kindest, most genuine people I've ever had the privilege to meet. I hope to see the both of you again sometime in the not so distant future. If I can only be so lucky.

“This is the best!”

I just returned from another wonderful stay at Sunset Valley Estate. Its hard to return to the normal grind after 10 days in paradise. There is no better place to relax in the whole world. I can't wait to get back. The hospitality of the owners "moms and pops" cannot be matched. The views are breath-taking and almost unbelievable. I was amazed how many birds were around and couldn't wait to watch them at dusk. The beaches close by were almost vacant and so wonderful, whether I was snorkeling or just taking sun. I can't begin to describe how comfortable I felt at the property. I felt right at home. This is the place for relaxation and fun.

If you're looking for an "off the beaten path" place look no further. Complete privacy, superb house and grounds, gracious hosts, jungle on one side and ocean of the other. We've been twice and expect to return in the near future.

“One heck of a vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 May 2006

We have just returned from a week at Sunset Valley Estate. The view from the house is magnificent and we have never experienced such incredible service before, Mom & Pops were just fantastic.
It was so lovely that it was hard to drag ourselves away from the it to go to town. In fact we didn't bother with alot of site seeing, having been before . The weather was so warm, we couldn't wait to get back to the peace and tranquility of the house.
The pool is lovely, our kids are 20 and 21 they enjoyed the heck out of it.
Overall I would say this is the best house we have ever stayed in on vacation, and I am extremely fussy!
We can't wait to return!

“Island Tranquility”

We just returned yesterday to the US from a week-long stay at the Sunset Valley Estate in Tobago. We (3 couples) had an incredible time and were very happy with our stay. The website for the estate ----------- gives a fair representation of what to expect. The only misinformation on the website is that 2 of the bedrooms have air conditioning. We were told by "mom" that the air condition was removed because it seemed too artificial and was never rarely needed. There were a few nights when it would have been nice to have it. Also, the 3rd bedroom is very, very small and does not have very much crossbreeze, which can make for a sometimes uncomfortable sleep.
Aside from those minor glitches, we had a great trip! Mom tries to be very helpful and did our laundry every morning and was always willing to help us out. The first night we arrived in Tobago was a holiday, and unbeknownst to us, most restaraunt were closed. "Mom" gave us some food to help us through our first dinner. "Pops" is also a genuinely nice guy who is chock full of information. He also gives great nature walks.
Like everyone else says, the views from the estate are breathtaking. Tobago is like nowhere else in the world. This is a great escape for someone looking for some peace and tranquility, far away from the hustle-and-bustle of urban life. If you do need groceries and gas, make sure you stock up, because it can be quite a drive. Although the island is small in size, the roads wind up, down, and around the sides of the mountains. So, it can take awhile to get somewhere.
We found Englishman's Bay to be one of the very nicest beaches on the entire island. Although we read that the water could be chilly, it was actually quite warm. Tons of fantastic diving and snorkeling with lots of reefs and lots of fish.
After a day on the beach, the pool on the estate was always a welcome sight. It was great to relax and cool down at the pool after baking in the island sun.
All in all, I would highly recommend the Sunset Valley Estate at Englishman's Bay and would definitely return.
