“Stay ANYWHERE else!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

I was forced to make bookings at this "hotel" due to the fact that most other hotels were totally booked becuase of the Jazz Festival taking place in Tobago. I think its a complete rip off. The rooms are old as is the furniture. The A/C unit could barely coolthe room and was sooo old the temperature could not be adjusted. You get onlu a variety of two tv channels to look at, that is when they are not scrambled. The house keeping was awful.
It was an overall very lousy experience.
i wouldnt advise anyone to go there.

This review is extremely inappropriate and inaccurate.
The hotel building is an old style building, more resembling the modern day 2 story motel as the entire area is open style as opposed to closed corridors. Therefore in my view for a tropical environment, much safer.

The air condition units have been replaced over the past two years.
The unit this customer must have been referring to, was actually working. (All of our units are in good working condition). However no air condition unit will ever cool a room if the windows and doors are left open. That is only common sense.
The temperature controls can be adjusted and if the customer did not know how to adjust it, he/she could simply ask for assistance at the front desk rather than complaining on Trip Advisor's site. The same applies for the housekeeping. We aim to please each guest and will bend over backwards for all our customers. By simply asking for extras, they would get it.

As far as the TV is concerned. This was a long time ago so I do not know what was the problem. Obviously again, rather than enquiring at the front desk, this guest chose to vent on Trip Advisor (not a good idea). That solves nothing.

We have satellite television programming (17 channels). As with all equipment, from time to time, some of the programs may go off the air, and when it is drawn to our attention, we call in the technician to re-connect same.

I would like to invite this guest to contact us with any further issues he/she may have.

“Fair Stay on a whole”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2006

I stayed at the Royal Palm for two nights. I was already on a tight schedule so called ahead to inform that I would be in a hurry and to request that I be pre-checked in. This was done and so upon my arrival I had only to check the form and sign it.

Due to my busy schedule I did not have much interaction with the staff, but the front desk staff are quite friendly and helpful and available even at 3 and 4 a.m. when due to a minor crisis I was burning up the telephone line.

The room was nice and spacious and the bathroom was lovely and clean and appeared to have been fairly recently renovated. The a/c is however too noisy, small and far from the bed to be properly useful and appreciated. Also the television in the room had no remote control and either there was no cable or it was off during my short stay.
The website also advertises wireless access in the rooms, but this was not the case and I had to resort to walking to the main lobby at 4 a.m to access the wireless there.

Taxi to the airport is booked for you in advance without hassle even though the driver did turn up almost a half an hour early!!

Check out took much longer than check in (with the early taxi driver honking his horn) and be sure to check your change before you leave as I was almost overcharged.

Fairly nice location with both supermarket and salon nearby. Nothing exceptional though but if they get the tv and wireless working, it would be pretty much value for money

“Watch yur bill when you leave”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 July 2006

I stayed two nights at that hotel. They charged me for three. I didn't notice it when I signed my bill and when I got home I e-mailed them to inform them of it. They were adament that I had stayed three nights and refused to refund me tor the overcharge of my credit card. The service is non-existant. The bar and restaurant closed for the day (the day I arrived) and only reopened after I complained about it. Maybe that's why they won't refund my money. The rooms are old and shabby, the furniture a mish mash of everything and nothing comfortable to sit on anywhere in that place. The ac is too small for the room size and doesn't cool it during the day. Noisy. The food is mediocre. Don't eat there.

Not recommended to anyone. Watch your charges when you leave because you'll have a merry chase to get your money back and not guaranteed. Too bad because it is well situated and close to everything. They have bad management and it shows everywhere. Too bad.

“Do not stay at this hotel”

We arrived to a shabby Hotel that need massive updating. It took 20 minutes to check in and we were charged 250 US Dollars a night!

The Rooms are damp and equipped with old furniture and equipment. The Resturant is very very poor. One window had no glass in it. We did not feel safe in this Hotel.

As an international businessman I suggest you avoid this hotel and commute from Barbados to your meetings if you can not find a Hotel in Trinidad.

This guest obviously stayed during Carnival and he had a problem with the rate.
I have no idea what window was broken and where since the restaurant does not have any windows.. It would have been interesting if he could have pointed out same to us as we are at a loss as to what he is speaking about.

He also did not state whether there were many persons checking in at the same time as himself.

The hotel has been upgraded since 2006, so this review really is unfair to the Royal Palm Hotel and we would recommend that the unfair old reviews should be removed and Trip Advisor update its web information as it is misleading and can lead to a case of slander.

“Great Hotel. Had a wonderful stay”

Royal Palm Suite Hotel is a Great Hotel. I spent a month and the staff were helpful and friendly. My room was over looking the pool. I had a fantastic view of the northern range. This hotel is very close to downtown Port of Spain. It is within walking distance of shopping plazas and restaurants and half an hour away from the Maracas Beach. My room was clean and well maintained and I enjoyed myself. On my return to this Island I will defnitely stay there again.

It was awe-some.
