“Terrible Experience, Avoid this place.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Where do i start. i stayed at this hotel during a business trip for 2 weeks and it was horrible.

after the first night i was ready to leave. but was unable to get a refund from the manager regardless of the reasons i stated. instead she moved us to a bigger room but it was still a mess.

1. the rooms are dirty and are not regularly cleaned. cleaning for this place is changing towels and making up the bed. the floors are dirty. rooms has a mouldy stuffy smell. my toilet leaked and a container was put under it to catch the water.

2. sleep quality terrible. the night staff was noisy. 1 in particular used a bug zapper all through the night and kept me awake. the sound of drilling also kept me up most of the night.

3. definitely not worth the price i paid for a room. this hotel serves 1 purpose. i observed that no one stayed more than a couple hours when i was there.

i could go on and on but i prefer to let pictures do the talking

I am sorry that you had to degenerate into word slinging, but there is always two sides to every coin.

You were given kitchen facilities for which you were not charged.
The rooms were serviced by housekeeping daily.
Unfortunately there was a leak in the bathroom and we offered to move you to another room, but you said you were comfortable and prepared to wait for the plumber to fix same the next day.

The leak was fixed the next day.

You never indicated you had any further problems.
You were out working everyday and was in no position to judge who our clientele were and what business they came to transact. Therefore libelous statements will not be encouraged.

“Absolutely disgusting”

Booked for 6 nights but didn't even stay for one. Our rooms were absolutely filthy, mould in bathroom. Filthy carpet, broken window and furniture and dangerous light fittings. This was a hovel and I would recommend anyone not to stay at this hotel. Any websites featuring this hotel to book would be wise to remove it.

The hotel has been upgraded in 2010 with a new roof and new room upgrades. Most of the rooms contain tiled flooring with a pleasant decor.

Its location is very central and very safe and very lively.
It is clean and comfortable with satellite television programming.

We welcome one and all to view and visit our premises to see the upgrades yourself.
While not a 5 star hotel, it is clean, comfortable and provide basic and friendly service to fit the budget-minded guest.

The hotel has seen continued upgrades over the years and extensive upgrades have been carried out between 2010 and 2011. Upgrades continue and will continue from day to day.
New air conditions have been installed.

We offer a full breakfast which consists of eggs/ sausage/ ham/ bacon/ toast/ fruit/ butter/ jam/ coffee; tea; juice

The breakfast varies depending on the guests we have at any one time. Eg...we may offer a local fare of bake and buljol etc

We try to offer breakfast according to the guest preference, taste and culture.

“Stay ANYWHERE else!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

I was forced to make bookings at this "hotel" due to the fact that most other hotels were totally booked becuase of the Jazz Festival taking place in Tobago. I think its a complete rip off. The rooms are old as is the furniture. The A/C unit could barely coolthe room and was sooo old the temperature could not be adjusted. You get onlu a variety of two tv channels to look at, that is when they are not scrambled. The house keeping was awful.
It was an overall very lousy experience.
i wouldnt advise anyone to go there.

This review is extremely inappropriate and inaccurate.
The hotel building is an old style building, more resembling the modern day 2 story motel as the entire area is open style as opposed to closed corridors. Therefore in my view for a tropical environment, much safer.

The air condition units have been replaced over the past two years.
The unit this customer must have been referring to, was actually working. (All of our units are in good working condition). However no air condition unit will ever cool a room if the windows and doors are left open. That is only common sense.
The temperature controls can be adjusted and if the customer did not know how to adjust it, he/she could simply ask for assistance at the front desk rather than complaining on Trip Advisor's site. The same applies for the housekeeping. We aim to please each guest and will bend over backwards for all our customers. By simply asking for extras, they would get it.

As far as the TV is concerned. This was a long time ago so I do not know what was the problem. Obviously again, rather than enquiring at the front desk, this guest chose to vent on Trip Advisor (not a good idea). That solves nothing.

We have satellite television programming (17 channels). As with all equipment, from time to time, some of the programs may go off the air, and when it is drawn to our attention, we call in the technician to re-connect same.

I would like to invite this guest to contact us with any further issues he/she may have.

“Fair Stay on a whole”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2006

I stayed at the Royal Palm for two nights. I was already on a tight schedule so called ahead to inform that I would be in a hurry and to request that I be pre-checked in. This was done and so upon my arrival I had only to check the form and sign it.

Due to my busy schedule I did not have much interaction with the staff, but the front desk staff are quite friendly and helpful and available even at 3 and 4 a.m. when due to a minor crisis I was burning up the telephone line.

The room was nice and spacious and the bathroom was lovely and clean and appeared to have been fairly recently renovated. The a/c is however too noisy, small and far from the bed to be properly useful and appreciated. Also the television in the room had no remote control and either there was no cable or it was off during my short stay.
The website also advertises wireless access in the rooms, but this was not the case and I had to resort to walking to the main lobby at 4 a.m to access the wireless there.

Taxi to the airport is booked for you in advance without hassle even though the driver did turn up almost a half an hour early!!

Check out took much longer than check in (with the early taxi driver honking his horn) and be sure to check your change before you leave as I was almost overcharged.

Fairly nice location with both supermarket and salon nearby. Nothing exceptional though but if they get the tv and wireless working, it would be pretty much value for money
