“Generally very good - not really set up for business”

I have now stayed here seven times on business trips. The hotel is very comfortable and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. The service is a little slow and indifferent, especially on the front desk and in the restaurants. If you want a quick sandwich at lunchtime, you are looking at an hour in the main restaurant and even at the deli counter, 20 minutes. Breakfast is also painfully slow, unless you opt for the buffet. The hotel wi-fi is extremely poor and the business centre is terrible (at least one of the printers is always broken in my experience, often no paper, machines very temperamental about accepting credit cards etc.). Forget trying to get a meeting room - this is in the hands of the events team, who never return calls. Maybe it's possible if you give 48 hours' notice. Most rooms have no possibility to admit fresh air, but there are some balcony rooms. All in all, it's perfectly good, and at around $200 a night, you can't really complain, but with a little effort they could do so much better.

Room Tip: Go for a deluxe room to get a balcony. Rooms ending in 01 have baths. Rooms ending in 27 are quieter...

“Best service in Trinidad”

I booked the Amour/Romance special for my b/f's birthday. The pkg included breakfast (delivered to the room), a bottle of champagne (so-so) and chocolate truffles (yummm). Everyone from the doorman to the receptionist, bartenders, servers etc was AMAZING!!! They truly made my b/f's birthday special. They brought the cake and wine on cue.
The pool and the view was breath taking. Would definitely go back.

Room Tip: Get a room with a view of the pool

“friendly staff”

I travel to Trinidad about four times a year and have stayed at the Hyatt every time. It is in a questionable neighborhood on the waterfront, but I have never not felt safe in close proximity of the hotel.

The thing that really shines about this hotel is the staff. They are friendly and a few of them remember me from my previous stays, which is a nice feeling. The rooms are clean and the waterfall shower head is wonderful way to wash off the dirt from the day.

Food is expensive, but they do have three different restaurants in the hotel so it allows for some variety.

Room Tip: I've always had better luck with the lower floors being less noisy. I always try to pick the oce...

“Great value!”

I stayed at this hotel on a recent business trip. The hotel rooms are fantastic and large. The service is excellent and the location is very convenient. I didn't try the food but they looked like typical hotel prices for a restaurant. I do have to say that getting around Port of Spain by taxi can very expensive.

“Great Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

I recently returned from Trinidad where I spent a comfortable five night stay at the Hyatt Regency, Port of Spain.

It was refreshing to enter the hotel with a warm greeting and a refreshing sip of the beverage offered. The check-in process was smooth with a delightful Front Desk Agent,Trent. I normally would prefer a lower floor, however, the fourteenth floor with a corner room (1426) was an acceptable choice. I had a view of the city as well as partial view of the Port.

Unfortunately I was unable to explore the facilities due to a hectic schedule. Nevertheless I will return for some rest and relaxation in the not too distant future. The great service and pleasant environment is commendable.
