“Fantastic Service!!”

I have been staying at this Hotel for past 4-5 years and at least five times a year as I travel to see family and friends on a regular basis. The Hotel is conveniently located within minutes of Restaurants, Bars, Movie Theater, Malls etc and only 20minutes from Airport. Hotel has all modern conveniences and new design like most courtyards in US. In my opinion, what makes this Hotel stand out from all the others in Trinidad is the staff. My wife and I travel a lot and have been all around the world and we both agree that the service we receive at Courtyard in Trinidad is the best we have ever received and the its a consistent experience....its always great!! I once thought that I got great treatment as I visit often but I have noticed how they treat other guests and its the same!! Staff is well trained, professional, attentive and the best I have seen in the Hotel Industry!! 100 Points!!!

Room Tip: If you are coming for carnival season- choose a room on the southern side (away from the stadium) as...

“Safe choice for a business traveller”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

I stayed at this hotel for just over 2 weeks in Sept/Oct 2011. It was a nice enough hotel in a decent location.. You can drive to most parts of downtown Port of Spain in 20 minutes or so (depending on the horrible PoS traffic). There is a mall next door to the hotel called MovieTown. As the name suggests there is a cinema there, but also a selection of (tacky) themed restaurants. The only positive to this being that you dont have to eat in the hotel where the food is poor and the prices ridiculous. Considering Trinis love their food and actually cook very well the hotels Americanised menu, portion sizes and ingredients make the restaurant one of the worst features of this hotel. This was an issue for me because of a city-wide curfew at the time which meant I had to find a restaurant and eat in it before 9:30pm. The hotel didn't serve food after curfew hours either as kitchen staff had to go home.
The rooms, however, are very nice. I had one with a small balcony on which I could smoke and generally relax in the warmth - albeit with a view of someones office (BHP Billiton is based right behind the hotel). The cleaning staff are lovely and bend over backwards to be accommodating. The reception too are very warm and friendly - though I should point out that this only works when you are face-to-face with them. I had to call 3 times after my trip to get my Marriott reward points and each time I spoke to someone who recognised who I was and promised to help but subsequently did NOTHING for me! I still dont have those points and as a result probably wont stay at a Marriott hotel again. The fact is it is a soul-less international standard hotel and theres always plenty of those around - its the reward points and customer service that would get me to go back.
Having said all of that it is a safe choice for a business traveller on a short trip.

“Please change the carpet!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

This is not a resort, is not a hotel intended for vacationers. It gets the job done as a business hotel though it falls a bit short of Courtyard by Marriott's standards in the US. Staff is friendly, and front desk is efficient. The lobby looks OK, with a nice bar right in the middle. It is located next to the Stadium and there is a mall next door with a movie theater a couple options for casual dining. Internet is complimentary and it works just fine. Unfortunately, the rooms are a little dated. The A/C unit on the wall is loud and it does not get the room as cold as I would like it to, the bathroom needs some serious updating and the carpet needs to go ASAP.

“Great Hotel, Great Location, GreatStaff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

This hotel is successful for its location, situated right next to MovieTowne featuring a range of recreational activities: shopping complex, food court, retail store: Price Smart and others.
Marriott features a gym to stay in shape, and each person is entitled to a disposable headphone for their MP3 / MP4 player, wireless internet, assistance for taxi services, on site security, car park, swimming pool, ergonomic workspace, complimentary continental breakfast.

The staff at Marriott are very courteous, prompt, efficient and dependable- great hotel for hospitality.

The only disadvantage at the time was the food quality- the service of the staff is excellent, however the quality of the food was not as excellent; nevertheless MovieTowne hosts a range of restaurants and fast food outlets.

“Well maintained hotel with great staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

I have stayed in many Marriott properties and this is perhaps the best Courtyard by Marriott property I've seen thus far. The owners strived to make it more upscale and they succeeded. It's on par with Marriott properties in the US and, when you are in a foreign country, the little details/comforts you have grown accustomed to in the US makes a difference. This is one of the best hotels on the island. The customer service is very good. The staff is very friendly and helpful and they seem to enjoy their jobs. I highly recommend this property.
